THIS NOVEL HAS GRIT! Powerful imagination for creating magic and story, is the gift bestowed upon Author Eve Paludan a multi-genre author and novelist. This novel is a continuation of Books 1, 2, and 3, of the series. It is titled WITCH BONES (Witch Detectives #4): A Paranormal Mystery Romance Novel. There are no less than a dozen fictional characters involved, including: enchanters, enchantress, a werewolf, goblins, fairies, warlords, romantic encounters, histories, and untold surprising magical maneuvers. All character identities and encounters have follow-through beginning to end with dramatic results.

The story has a masterfully fast moving and intellectually believable magic based on scientifically hypothecated imagination. This novel has grit! Uncanny and admirable skills of storytelling in this book have been written with a continual flow of dialogue, adventure, surprise changes of direction and introductions to past history. All the while, current events run without interruption or confusion.

Europe and, specifically, the magnificent country of Scotland was chosen as the main site of this adventure and some history will be shared. Altogether, enjoy the humor of a cast of employees -- reminiscent of humans.

Surely, readers will appreciate that WITCH BONES by Eve Paludan is a fast paced story with a sprinkling of unfamiliar Old World vocabulary words, easily translated in the Kindle dictionary. The Witch Detectives #4 is great. I started reading and couldn't put down till I finished. Elle is learning more about her skills as an enchantress-witch and putting those to combat evil forces in the world. Book is entertaining and fast moving. Eve has done a wonderful job of keeping the reader wanting more from the characters in the book. Can't wait to see what evil they will put down in #5. Thanks Eve Paludan.

Better than expected.

For the first two-thirds of the book, it was a very enjoyable tale, and somewhat less superficial than I expected based on other reviews. I thought the author did a nice job of letting the reader see the Earl slowly fall for Jem/Jane, and of explaining J/j's motivations and thoughts. The story fell down for me in the last third, where a little communication would have cleared up a good 50+ page "misunderstanding" (I would rather have a shorter story), but the first part of the book was rather touching, sweet, and intriguing. Overall, a good read and from a perspective that I found to be fresh (while the girl dressed as boy story has been done before, this take had some unique elements).

A great read - or should I say ride?

I read THE EARL AND HIS TIGER today, couldn't stop until I got to the end. I loved the hook - an earl who falls in love with his saucy little groom when he wakes up to the fact that she's a woman. I loved the 'revealing' scene where Jem - our spirited 'tiger' - can no longer conceal the fact that he is, in fact, Jane. The hero, known to his friends as Stanton, is very dashing and I loved the fact that he gets more romantic and more vulnerable as the story moves on. One of my favourite exchanges in the book was
'You're a horsewoman. You know how important breeding is.'
'I am not a horse!'
Breeding in every sense of the word is an important theme in this book, handled skilfully by an author completely steeped in the history of the Regency period. Wonderful period details throughout - and great dialogue. Even more surprising though, is the sensitive handling of a tricky subject - the 'boyish' sexuality of the heroine. Loved it!

Great idea for a story but not fully developed.

This book started out so great and then just fell flat. It was almost as if the author was told," OK you need to wrap this great groundwork you've just started in a few more chapters. Go to it." The characters were never fully developed and neither was the story. So many loose ends! It was very frustrating not to know what happened with the Duke and the ES. I will look for by this author because the promise of greatness is there but I definitely won't pay more than 99 cents. I hope she expands on her talent and polishes her work.

What do you get when you cross a beautiful Parole Officer and a hot felon? A whole lot of hot steamy sex! These two, Mailia and hottie Jeremy are hot roman candles burning bright and hot. The only problem is Jeremy does not want a relationship. Casual sex is all he can give. Mailia is in it for the long haul, or is she? She has 10K riding the line. Who knows where Monique is taking us on the wild ride. I cannot wait to read Book 4!

Love me some bear!

OMG....I loved this! Ohhh I cant wait for his brothers stories. This was pure hotness! Travis is a very sweet bear! Very nice guy! I laughed when he shifted and went after his bro! LOL. I really liked Sabrina...she was a very confidant woman....not too much but a perfect mix of vulnerability too!

It was mildly entertaining. My issues with this book were that there wasn't all that much going on and the relationship between Travis and Sabrina was a little too perfect. There was hardly any conflict, it was mostly just about how amazing Travis and Sabrina's unrealistic fairy tale romance was. If the characters had a little more of a struggle getting to know one another, it would have been a bit more realistic. Well, as realistic as a were-bear romance can get anyway. The one and only time there was any conflict (warning: spoilers) was when a woman whom use to date Travis gets jealous that he's moved on and decides to go throw herself at him while he's at work. Now realistically, a woman who would have the audacity to do something like that would most likely be a pretty selfish person, whom does this sort of thing with very little remorse. Why would someone as selfish and haughty as that suddenly turn around and apologize just because they were given a "well, that's not very nice" ??? They wouldn't. If someone were self absorbed enough to think they could sweet talk a man into dumping his current girlfriend for them, they wouldn't really give a single f*** about said girlfriend's feelings. The whole scene came off a bit forced, like the author realized she should put at least some kind of conflict in this book instead of nothing but the two main characters copulating and making goo-goo eyes at one another, but then decided she didn't really want to go there. I personally need a bit more than that.

Great new series. This is a wonderful short read.An amazing new world of bear shifters for us to enjoy and explore cant wait for the next. Love how the bears can be so open and free in bear canyon. Even able to shift and walk in public freely. Awesome.

Another Hit!

I love books by E. B. Brown! She paints such a clear picture of a place (and time!) I've never been. I feel that I'm experiencing what the characters are experiencing. I love that this is a continuation of the Time Walker series, but with Dagr and Malcolm as the lead characters, and Skye is a welcome addition. I can't wait for the next installment, as I'm dying to know what happens! Do they stay in the past? Does Dagr lose his love? What becomes of Malcolm? What must Winn and Maggie be going through? If you love the Time Walkers, you'll definitely want to read this.

time travelling brothers

I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. This story follows two of Winn & Maggie's sons from the time walkers saga. You have mistaken identity, romance, forbidden love, familial responsibility, & sibling rivalry. It is good but much too short! I want to know what happens next so I'll have to get the next book. I recommend reading the time walkers & following up with these, I don't think you will be disAppointed!!

now i have another series to love! a continuation of time walkers but, not really. i really enjoyed reading this book because it kept me tied to the time walker series. i love time travel/fantasy/historical fiction and this book had everything in it i love. now i can hardly wait to read the following books.how long am i gonna have to wait?

Rose had a happy childhood until the darkness came. The darkness caused her father to do unspeakable things, and made her mother turn a blind eye. The only bright spot in her bleak existence is Anna, a child conceived in darkness, but loved nonetheless. When Rose is suddenly transported to the past, she’ll do anything to get back to Anna. Rose is now known as Cordovae, and it’s not only her name that has changed. She has become Ankou and is in possession of powerful magic she would gladly trade if she could just hold Anna in her arms again. As Cordovae struggles to reconcile her memories of her life as Rose with her new, overwhelming identity, she must learn to fight to save the past so that she has a future to return to.

Come, the Dark definitely brings the darkness. The authors explores sexual abuse, loss, and hopelessness. Most of this story is set against the backdrop of the Salem Witch Trials, a time when anyone who was a little different lived in constant danger of being accused of witchcraft. For Cordovae, her attempts to blend in prove disastrous. She must rise above despair and learn to fight, not only for a chance to return to Anna, but to fulfill her destiny. As she gradually grows to care about (and even love) the people she’s met during her time in Salem, the idea of returning to Anna is fraught with pain.

Despite the dark themes and often hopeless situations Cordovae must face, there is always hope. Cordovae learns to fight no matter what. She never gives up on love. In many ways, Come, the Dark is vastly different from The Forever Girl. Yes, we still explore the rich world of elementals the author has created, a world of Chibold, Strigoi, Cruor, Ankou, and Morts, but the general atmosphere in this book is much heavier. This book is less about magic, and more about sheer determination and the power of love. For Cordovae, love is the driving force behind everything she does, and that’s what makes her a stand-out character. Beautifully written, Come, the Dark is a book I would whole-heartedly recommend to anyone looking for an engaging read.

This is not a book as much as it is true art!

Every once in a while I find a book that's so good it leaves me lost for words. Not a normal occurrence, I assure you!

On occasion I've re-read a particular book I've really enjoyed, though never before have I done so within days of the previous read. This is one of those incredible, immediate re-read books!

Come, the Dark is filled with emotions, some of which I truly believe only a woman who has given birth could understand so intuitively. The draw, the heartbreak, the all out *need* to return to a child lost.

The author maintains an intensity throughout the book that, so far, I've found unmatched in other books of a similar nature. Her education or research on subject matter is very clear. She knows of what she writes and relays it well.

There was so much information to take in on this work, so much detail given to the reader, that even the second time around I found myself truly intrigued, spellbound, and turning the pages with such anticipation.

I won't go into the content of the book, as I can see many other reviews have already done so, but I will say, in my opinion, Come, the Dark is a highly recommended read, especially for pagan lovers.

Rebecca Hamilton has once again bound her works to my automatic TBR list, without a doubt.

It all started with the Forever Girl, and I've become a forever fan after this amazing novel!

I love this series!

In 1961 a teenage girl whose name is Rose is expecting a baby. But not all is that simple. It’s her own father’s baby she’s carrying. Her Pa is not as he used to be. He’s different. And Rose keeps seeing shadow men at the edge of her sight. They are always beside her, never leaving.

All Rose wants is to give birth to her baby and run. As far as possible. What she least expected was that after giving birth to her baby, she would end up in Salem of 1691, separated from her Anna.

Trying to find a way back, she meets William and Tess who teach her a lot about elementals: the Ankou, the Strigoi, the Cruor and the Maltorim, and who try to figure out what Cord should do to stop the Maltorim.

Rebecca Hamilton’s Volume 2 of The Forever Girl Series proved once again what a gifted writer Rebecca is. Rose/Cordovae is a character you instantly sympathize with. I enjoyed her journey immensely. I was particularly impressed with the final battle Cord, William and Tess had against the Maltorim. It was amazing! And the ending is … outstanding! No spoilers here.

If you love Paranormal Romance and Dark Fantasy, this series is for you.

LONG LIVE THE HORDE

Strength & Courage is a new kind of Night Horde. They’re on the up-and-up in their little community of Southern California. They own and run a custom bike shop and also do some security work. This SoCal branch is much larger than the main branch in Missouri.

Muse is the quiet brother amongst his fellow club members. He's a good man who has seen and done some bad things.

Sidonie is fresh on the job and wanting to make a difference for those who have no voice.

Paths are crossed when one of the Horde members has some issues that lands his child in the Department of Children and Family Services. Sidonie is the caseworker who is forced to look beyond the exterior to see the interior of these men who grace her workplace.

Through some crazy nighttime circumstances Muse ends up at Sid’s house where after the initial shock of the crisis has been averted these two hit it off. While things progress between the two of them Sid starts to question her involvement with this club. Her upbringing and lifestyle is the extreme opposite of everything the club has to offer.

One of the many things Ms. Fanetti does well with her female characters is she makes them strong. Her women are never damsels in distress but instead they portray strength and courage. The Fanetti Women are flawed women who are stable in their own personal selves. They are tough and at the same time supportive. I love that when I read her books I know I won’t be rolling my eyes at the leading ladies in the story.

Ms. Fanetti is like a best kept secret… she writes these fantastic books and publishes them about every six weeks without a bunch of fanfare. You won’t see any blog tours or major announcements about the books. But like a true subculture all of us, Ms. Fanetti fans, JUST KNOW when this stuff will be released. If you haven’t taken time to read any of her work please do. She has three series, as of right now: 2 mc’s and 1 Italian-American family. Start with any of her series and discover what the rest of already know- Ms. Fanetti’s writing is brilliant. The way she creates a family feeling, be it in a mc or one who has ties to the mafia, you’ll find yourself drawn into their world. All that to say- READ THIS BOOK. :)

Solid start to new series, stands alone but enriched by having read Signal Bend

Muse is a member of the SoCal Horde, age 42 (43 by end of book). The Horde, as of the end of the Signal Bend series, is now legit, but they are struggling. Unlike the Missouri Horde, this chapter previously was outlaw before they patched Horde, and quite a few of the members miss those days for various reasons. This legit/outlaw choice is a big theme throughout this book.

Sidonie is a social services caseworker, age 32 (33 by end) in charge of a little boy whose father is Horde. That is how she comes to meet Muse and the other members, and getting involved. Sid and Muse slowly come together as a couple, dealing with issues going on both their lives, and in their joined lives with the Horde.

I have never been disappointed in a Susan Fanetti book, but this one wasn't as strong as some of hers I have read. I think perhaps it was just because it was the first book of a series. I have tended to rate her books in the middle of the series higher, whether due to the writing or just that I was more invested in the series I'm not sure. In fact, even by the end of this one, I was liking it more and more, to the point I can't wait until March for the next in this series to come out (Demon's book).

You don't need to have read the Signal Bend series to enjoy this one, but I think it would be a richer experience to have done so. There are a few Missouri Horde visiting this chapter at one point in the book, but the biggest reason to read Signal Bend is that there is a lot of comparing and contrasting the two chapters and their basic makeup of men, including perhaps some changes seen in Bart, though he is far from the central character in this one.

This was a solid 4 stars for me, and another great series started.

Great start to a new MC series

Sidonie a social worker, who comes into contact with the Night Horde, when she becomes a case worker for Demon's 2 year old son. Demon and Muse are both members of the SoCal chapter. When a desperate Demon tries to plea his case to Sid, and things escalate, Muse steps in to calm everyone down. Muse and Sid's relationship heats up quickly and is low on drama. Sid is feisty and independent, so she and Muse but-heads a few times. But, Muse is understanding and level-headed, giving Sid what she needs.

“We all need to be rescued sometimes, hon. You rescued me. I just returned the favor.”

While Strength & Courage was light on the grittiness, it was emotional and and engaging. And as always the writing was superb, Susan is an excellent story-teller. I am really looking forward to continuing this series. (less)

I'm gutted.
Grief, despair, love, lust, betrayal and ultimately....true happiness.
This story, a true stand-alone, gives you closure.
I was train-wrecked by this book...in a very good way.

Great coming of age romance

Let me start off with how much I loved the cover. Anna was introduced in the previous book in this series and when I saw this cover I thought, yes that's Anna, a mix of badass and vulnerable.
I've loved all of these books so far, even reading out of order. I cried reading this one. Anna's story and Declans, even before they hook up, make you love them and pull for them to get it right.
This book had the perfect mix of emotion, steamy and happy ever after.
I saw on the authors website that Jeremy's story is coming. I really liked him in this book so I can't wait. But I still want more Dylan !

Great read! Read it in one day!

I liked this one FAR better than the previous novel. (I haven't read the first two). The writing was more established, characters more developed, and I just liked the story better (but that is personal preference).

I am a big fan of the chase, the angst, the drama. I loved the second chance romance aspect of this and when we got the flashback, we got the sweetness of the 15 year old first love during a hard time in their lives. That added a dimension that I really enjoyed at the beginning. We got to skip all the introduction and got that in the flashback.

I really liked Anna (and disliked her, but I will get back to that). I really feel like her character was very real for an 18 year old just starting school and having that strong emotional connection to Declan. She was decisive about her relationship, about her job, about what she wanted. I appreciate decisive female leads.

I liked Declan. I felt his struggle. While I did feel like he lacked some MAJOR balls and was able to be so easily manipulated, not just by Tess, but by Cassie and the girls at the end, you can empathize why. I felt like he needed to vocalize these reasons far earlier in the book, but then, we would miss some of the drama.

Some things I wasn't super fond of: I didn't like how weak Declan was. He needed to man up earlier. Granted, I understand why, but how far it went in the story got a little tiring. Also, how weak Anna was in reference to Declan. It seemed a little out of character from the previous book and in other aspects of her life. In love, we do tend to act like fools, but we all know how to play the game a little. Oh, and the female characters being TOTALLY ok with cheating is NOT ok with me. Tess, Anna...COME ON. This is the second book by this author that just excuses cheating away. I don't understand this. Again, personal preference...I don't like cheating in books, but to just say "It's ok!" Try again. At least Anna gave Declan a hard time for his ill behavior.

One final complaint, and it's actually a good one, is that I wish the happy ending was longer. We have all this build up for not a lot of happy times. It was a little bit of a let down, but maybe we'll get cameos in later books. I DO hope that Dylan (from book 3 Let Me Go) actually gets a book. I am still hung up on that one.

Overall, I would give this a solid 4-4.5, if not a bit higher. I didn't ever feel like I wanted to stop and read it in 1 day. Great read.
