A novella that definitely fills in the gaps and adds important elements to the story

*I received a copy of this book from 47North and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*

I used to live in North Carolina and in 7th grade, you are required to take a North Carolina history class. I fell in love with the Lost Colony when I took that class. I have always been fascinated by it and interested in everything about it.

I have loved reading Denise Grover Swank's take on the Lost Colony and what happened to it. The series has been fantastic. The supernatural element that surrounds the Lost Colony in this series is so eerie and gripping. I stay connected to the page, hanging onto every word.

The romance aspect with the two main characters is interesting because everything works to push them away from each other. You don't know what is going to happen to them as they seem to have a volatile love/hate relationship.

This installment is Collin's story about how he became a curse keeper. I love Denise's novellas for her series that she writes. They are always informative and really give you added content that is important to the story. They definitely are not calorie laden fillers.

I crave more from Denise about this series. I can not wait to learn more about the Curse Keepers and the Lost Colony. Highly recommend this series.

Another Slam Dunk!

Denise Grover Swank nailed Collin Dailey's story with this novella! The puzzle pieces of his behavior and choices click into place with the turn of each page. Collin's childhood paved the way for the young man he would become. He was taught the Dare Keeper would destroy him, but he never had a clue that the parts of him she would destroy would leave room to reconstruct a better man.

I flew through this book - just couldn't put it down. Like all Denise Grover Swank novellas, this one fits perfectly into the series! It's must read for any Curse Keeper series fan!

Loved getting Collin's story!

This Is Your Destiny is #0.7 in the Curse Keepers series by Denise Grover Swank.

In this short novella we really get a good look at Collins’s life and what made him the man we have gotten to know in this series. I knew his life hadn’t been good but had no idea at how bad it really was. His alcoholic, abusive father who hated his fate of being the Curse Keeper. His mother who struggled with severe depression. We meet his younger brother Conner. I think this shocked me the most. At the man his brother had become but still, the sense of responsibility Collin felt towards him. And then his Grandmother. She is the one who spent her life preparing Collin for his fate.

The entire book is from Collin’s POV. His life is a mess. He owes money to the lone shark he works for. His old fishing boat is barely running yet he refuses to sell it. And we get to know first hand his own struggles with dealing with his destiny.

Collin is visited not once but twice by Ahone in the form of a glowing orb of light over the water. Ahone tells him he must find the other Curse Keeper and break the curse. Both Ahone and his Grandmother paint Ellie as being super powerful and capable of destroying him. Little did they know (or maybe they did) that she had no memory of her own destiny. Ahone tells Collin that once he breaks the curse, he can then reseal the gate and he will be free of the curse forever. This promise is just too good to pass up. It’s all he’s ever wanted, to be free of it.

But is Ahone being honest or is he tricking Collin? And, it’s obvious his Grandmother knows more than she is saying. If you have already started this series or are thinking of starting it, this is really helpful in understanding Collin. I have had such a love/hate relationship with him throughout the series. His life really does seem to have been cursed. But when he took Ellie’s hand that day and opened that gate, little did he know the future he had just set in motion for himself and Ellie.

Loved it

Strictly Temporary Volume 1:

Strictly Addicting!!! This book was an emotional, heartbreaking, sexy, and swoon-worthy book. From the prologue to the last page, Ella will have you consumed with a story line that was beautifully delivered and written. This author has an ability to allow readers to feel. To feel the emotional pain, hurt, vulnerability, anger, and love. I was truly mesmerized and invested in getting to know the characters since all her characters felt so real.A must read!!!! It will have you craving and wanting more of the hero. If you want swoon-worthy and sexy, alpha hero, then I highly suggest you meet Exton. He will make your heart go pitter-pat when he constantly tells his girl thats she’s the one. His love and devotion to Arden will touch your heart. You gotta love a man who knows what he wants and I know what I want. Simply, I want more Exton Alexander.

Strictly Temporary 2:

Exton Alexander... you are officially on my list of 2015 book boyfriends!! Ahh scratch that, you are book husband material. Be still my beating heart because Ella Fox has worked her magic and made you fall in love and believe in fairy tales. But of course, Ella Fox gives you a sexy, steamy and swoonworthy happily ever after ending that will leave you smiling like a fool.

Forget sparks because fireworks are going off when it comes to Exton Alexander. In this final conclusion of Strictly Temporary, Exton will make you believe that prince charming, knight in shining armor, and heroes do exist. When you found the one you want to spend the rest of your life, you automatically know. In the words of Exton, he found his spark. And his spark is none other than Arden, who made him see the story book ending of HEA. In the first installment, we learned that Arden's past and secret has been exposed. For Arden, this humiliation could ruin her relationship with Exton but her past doesn't phase him. He makes it his mission to protect his woman and if that means hunting down anyone involved in tarnishing Arden's image, then he will do it. So if you are looking for an alpha male with a heart of gold, then I highly suggest you read Strictly Temporary.

Ella Fox is an amazing writer, who did a remarkable job in writing a book that incorporates romance, angst, drama, and of course those H-O-T sexy times that will heat up those e-readers. I love reading a book that showcases the growth of characters as they are able to blend their different personalities that will compliment their partners and Arden and Exton did just that. Ms. Fox, I bow down to your awesomeness and can't wait to read more of your books.

A slow burn increasing to a wild fire that cannot be contained!

From the author that brought us the Hart family saga, and all those HOT Hart men, now comes a story about one Dante's best friend from College - Exton Xavier Alexander or Triple X. One crazy chick, one night of porn type sex, a viral video of the event, and Exton's reputation was trashed.

Our story though is told from the point of view of Arden. She is a Small Towne girl (that is the name of her hometown!). She has lived through the torment of the small minds and bullies that live in Small Towne. One mistake, having lost her heart to the town bully and eloping with him, this is a mistake she will never outrun.

The love affair between Exton and Arden is what romance stories are all about. A slow burn, slowly increasing into a wild fire that cannot be contained leads these two to a tenuous relationship.

This is only the introduction novella to this amazing story. It is a fast read, with lasting consequences to your mind! Once again, Ella Fox has spun her magic and I am hooked for more!

Loved it! Fast paced and emotional, Ella did it again with another amazing book I couldn't put down and read in one sitting! Arden's past is one that will break your heart. Her development through out the book is perfect. Exton... love him. His dirty mouth will make you swoon. I love that he fights for what he wants. The relationship between these two is so touching. I just loved it. I can't wait for the next one!

Short But Engaging and Enjoyable Read

Somebody Nice! is a well written short story with engaging characters. We experience what Danny goes thru as a father, a police officer, his commitments as a co-worker, a partner to another beat cop, what makes him tick, and all the little things that round out a main character. His boyfriend is Milo, an extremely shy librarian (love the male slant on a common romance theme). Milo lives with his mother . . His choice, to keep her company. But no, he's not a momma's boy. So the two meet thru Melissa, Danny's daughter. She goes to Milo's school.

Both Danny and Milo are new to acting out their desires, man to man. Their coming together, step by step, was honest but tinged with blushes. The humor was there, and heartfelt words. In a short story it all came together to where the family unit was enriched by Danny's budding relationship with Milo. The only nit pick and it was minor: Danny never meets or interacts with Milo's mother. And we all know how mother's love to spoil little girls.

Ultimately I'd love to see a series with these two men, watch the ups and downs of moving their relationship along, their jobs, their friends, and all that stuff. - Dan's Wife

Like eating a box of chocolates...

What is this story like?

Hm, well, it's like eating a box of chocolates. A couple of them you don't like so much as the others-for me that's the raspberry cremes and the caramels that require a bit too much effort to chew, but they're still delicious, and they're still good to eat, because after they're gone it's down to those few favourites that you save until last. And then you savour that most delicious final chocolate, your all-time, best ever heavenly delight of sweet pleasurable wonder, and flop back into your comfy armchair, totally spent.

Somebody Nice is just like that. Feel-good, be happy. If life is tugging at your trouser legs, trying to pull you down, grab a moment with Raine O'Tierney. It'll all be better.

Somewhat disappointing

I was eager to to read more by this author after "That Eigteenth Summer", but unfortunately was somewhat disappointed in this one. For one, when Danny kept pressuring Milo to let him introduce him to Melissa, I thought Milo was being overly cautious, until it was revealed that although Danny liked both sexes, not only had he never brought any guys around, he had never even explained the fact that he also liked men to Melissa. For two, Melissa was 7 years old going on 20, and it seemed as though Mrs. Palmer was the only one who ever bothered to put her in a child's place. She was too mouthy and defiant and spent too much time getting into "grown folks' business" as my Granny would say. The scene where she confronted Milo on his job, hands on hips, stamping her foot, then yelling "No!" when he asked her to lower her voice? Yeah, that wasn't cute to me. This was all reinforced by the sentence "Melissa ran the show and his girlfriends had all known that fact and were apprehensive." Why is it a fact that a child is running the show and not the adult? Three, what really bothered me (as a parent) was Danny leaving Melissa alone. The first time was in the pet store, where he went onto another aisle to kiss and talk to Milo. He didn't even leave the dog to watch her. It only takes a couple of minutes for a curious child to wander off. The 2nd time was after the first time they all had dinner together; when Melissa fell asleep, Danny drove Milo home, leaving her alone in the house while he made out in front of Milo's house! That is not okay! What's wrong with cabs? Four, the conflict between Milo & Danny was too contrived and didn't make much sense. I understand Danny being busy, but not only would it have only taken 30 seconds to fire off a text ("Sorry! Super busy! Will call soon!") but he could've replied to Milo's text immediately, before he ever became super busy. Lastly, there wasn't really an ending. An epilogue would have been nice and helpful, to see how Danny's job was working out & how he balanced it with his new life; if Milo ever got his promotion; and how they all got along. At best it was an HFN ending.

A Boys of Fall Novel

I love that these three great authors decided to get together to write this interconnected series. They even found a fun way to incorporate their names into the series-Coach Nicholas Carr who lives in Quinn, Texas. Ok onto the book. Tucker has taken too many hits to the head and is hiding a secret until he can decide what he wants to do with his football career. The debilitating migraines he suffers from are the least of his problems, Lela becomes focus number one once he sees her again. Neither of them have ever forgotten their high school sweetheart days, but these days the fire burn a lot hotter than it used to. When they come together things get intense really quickly when Tucker introduces some BDSM into the mix. Of course Tucker makes some pretty stupid moves, but he’s man so we really should expect it. Thankfully he comes to his senses and tells Lela everything. The question is what choice will he make? Stay in Quinn with Lela or return to the career he’s always thought he wanted more than anything else in the world? I really enjoyed the characters. Lela is fun and sassy with enough spunk to keep Tucker on his toes in and out of bed. It was super easy for me to lose myself while reading this one and I wound up staying up way past my bedtime because I just couldn't put it down.

Football & First Loves.........

Remember high school? Teenage angst? Football games & first loves? This book has all of that and more.
Tucker has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams as an NFL quarterback. Football has been his life since high school and he's not sure who he is without it. Problem is......................one too many concussions has left him with a major decision regarding his career and his life.
As he visits his hometown for the first time in 12 years, he realizes that no matter how successful he is, he's still just Tucker. And Lela, the girl he left behind. is still the only girl he's ever loved.
This one was a fun, emotional reading adventure that I can highly recommend to anyone. Don't miss out on this series.

Engaging from the start and impossible to put down

Take one NFL player with a big decision to make, add in a need to return home to help someone who has always been there for him, and throw in his high school sweetheart whose heart he broke 12 years ago and you have one seriously great story. Mari Carr's Free Agent is a super part of the Boys of Fall series and you don't want to miss out!

To Tucker Riley the town of Quinn, Texas doesn't hold a lot of good memories; it is where he suffered physical abuse at the hands of his father, it is where he buried his mother, and it is where he left the love of his life but when he gets the call that Coach Carr has had a heart attack and needs help nothing can keep him away not even the debilitating migraines he's been suffering since his last concussion. He knows he'll have to face his demons going home but he also knows it is where he needs to be to make the most important decision in his life.

If Lela (L.B.) Whitacre was honest with herself she'd have figured out long before Tucker walked back into town that he was the reason she'd never fallen in love again. Seeing him again and being around him again has shown her that when he left Quinn he took her heart with him and no man has come close to having it again. She knows it's not smart, and she knows it will kill her when he leaves again but she also can't help but be there for him and be with him while he's home.

There was just so much about this story that I really loved; the fact that neither one of them ever got over the other and how easy they fell back into a relationship and yes while they did hit the sheets frequently (among other surfaces) there was way more to their relationship than that. They were at ease with one another, they had no problems sharing everything with each other even things they had shared with anyone else, and there was this mutual respect for one another and their feelings. Despite the fact that they had a horrible break-up when they were teens, I admired the fact that they both felt at fault for it and were willing to own up for it and take responsibility for it. I am so thankful that they were able to move past that point in their lives and enjoy a mature relationship. One thing is for certain they both have explored their sexuality and have no problem sharing everything they've learned and teaching each other a few new things as well.

While not quite as spicy as some of author Mari Carr's other work, there is still enough heat in this book to keep everyone entertained and the town and residents of Quinn are an interesting bunch and I'm pretty sure we are in for a really spicy treat in Ms. Carr's next installment of this series if I picked up correctly on her foreshadowing. Engaging from the start and impossible to put down Free Agent is an outstanding part of the Boys of Fall series!

A New Home .......

Suzanne Lie is a gifted channel and the information provided is very powerful. This said, I need to add if you read her books you should be already somewhat familiar with the concept of metaphysical adventures, I like to call it adventure since you start exploring uncharted territory. So, start with this book first, digest and explore the concepts first before you move on to the next book. You will be surprised what you learn if you let all this sink into your consciousness. The most important favor you can do to yourself is to be open minded and be willing to just be when you read it, meaning leaving the mind/ego out of the way, Definitely I must read if you are on a spiritual journey.

I find I resonate with material from the Arcturians more than anything else I read. Their messages are always succinct, insightful, wise, and helpful. Every time I read a message from them (mostly through Suzanne Lie) I think, "How did they know exactly what I needed to hear right now?" I don't know how others respond to them but to me they are amazing. Bless Suzanne Lie for channeling them so successfully.

I liked the first three books and the story line I ...

Ok, This review is more difficult. I liked the first three books and the story line I met so many intertwined cousins, that i knew this family would be a gold mine. I was disappointed, Book 4 was a novella as was book 6. These short stories are trying very hard to cram everything into a short quick read. If that is what the author is wanting then, maybe the main characters have a chance encounter in the book ahead to at least meet the cast of character,there, since we have at last a third of this book setting up what is going to happen in a day or two the book spans.was very little dialog. #4 and #6 were difficult to get through and enjoy.I was bored in both of the novellas. The longer books seemed t flow better and I read them until they were done... I read all of the books but the novels were by far much better.

The "Secret" is that Sir Kenworthy is a Twit.
By I told you so
Nope. Sadly, Julia Quinn will no longer be an automatic purchase after this mess. First of all, the whole Smythe-Smith musicale debacle ran its course a long time back. Now it just seems forced and really milked for whatever little laugh quotient is left. Enough already. The heroine here, Iris is pale and rather plain. And pale. Did I mention she was pale? Don't worry, Julia Quinn will remind you another 10 or 12 times within the first few chapters that the heroine, Iris, IS PALE. And our hero, Sir Richard? Not pale, just a big jerk. This guy is really unlikable. Granted, he is presented with a sticky problem for a fellow to be in, but his solution is just so DUMB. Maybe his brand of solution worked back in the Regency Era when this story supposedly takes place, but it's still DUMB. Not only that, it is a horrible way to treat poor, pale Iris. That poor, chalky gal deserves better than Sir Kenworthy. Not Quinn's best work by far. By page 50 I was already skimming bits. The forced humor was almost painful to read. It didn't flow naturally, it didn't really make me smile, it just seemed so staged and forced.

Some secrets should not be told.

I have long been a fan of Julia Quinn. The first 60% of this novel was great. Funny (the scenes from the play were hilarious), packed with cameos by characters from previous novels, a hero full of mystery. This part was 5 star worthy wit and prose. The party ended when the couple left the wedding breakfast. In my opinion, the secret made Richard seem a conniving idiot when revealed. The last third was 2 star worthy at best. Fans of Quinn may understand when I say that I felt "pecked to death by pigeons." Even though the ending gave the couple a plausible HEA, the intelligent Iris Quinn wrote about should have been angry for much longer. Instead, it felt more like she acquiesced like a Sarah Gorely heroine.

I want to say that I LOVE all Julia Quinn books

First, I want to say that I LOVE all Julia Quinn books. I was so excited to see she had a new book come out that I bought it right away. I was SO DISAPPOINTED!!!

Richard basically tricked Iris into marriage, and while she knew something wasn't quite right, she married him anyway because he purposely compromised her. If I was Iris, when I found out the real reason why he "courted me" I would have never forgiven him. Thier whole future will forever be tainted by the fact that he knew she was desparate, and only sought her out and married her to solve a problem he had. His profession of love at the end....well, sorry, I don't think I would have ever trusted anything he said.

For him to demand that she pretend to carry his sister's baby and then treat it like their first born.... and not consumate the marraige for 8 months?? I was just left with the feeling of WHAT??!!!

I never write reviews for books. This is actually the first I've written and I read A LOT of romance novels. Obviously, I don't have th talent to write like Julia Quinn and I'm not trying to be critical of the way she writes. She is most definitely a very talented writer. I just didn't appreciate the plot and wanted to warn others who are looking for a light hearted Julia Quinn romp that this is not that type of book.
