Wonderful Romance Reading

This was a lovely storyline with lots of great characters. I enjoyed the romance story between the two main characters, my only complaint is the story felt like it left me hanging. An epilogue would have helped to tie it up better.

sweet & cute

I really enjoyed Lexie & Ashton's story, up until the end. It flowed really well & was very fun & sweet, but the epilogue seemed very abrupt. I just personally would have liked that to be the last chapter & an epilogue further into the future, showing a bit more of the relationship after they got back together from the "seemingly obligatory break up" portion.

Now, since the next book in the series features Ashton's best friend, Jax, we may see more of Lexie & Ashton in his book, I don't know. Still, for the most part it was a good read! : )

Another awesome book!

I have followed this series all the way through. I really love the way Lindsay Paige and Mary Smith write. They do a great job of pulling the reader in from page 1. This book is my least favorite in the series but only because I don't like books with kids in them. It is a total personal preference. Ashton was AWESOME. I even liked the relationship he had with his kid's mom. Lexie was a little bit annoying to me but again I think it was just because of the whole kid thing. Honestly, go read this book. I recommend you reading the whole series. You will not be disappointed.

A Wonderful, Heart Warming Story

A wonderful, heart warming story of moving forward from the past. Mia, is survivor of breast cancer, a divorce and now moving back home with her two kids. Ryker, has come to Montana, to his land that his dad left him. Ryker has lost his fiance recently. Ryker and Mia meet over the property that they both think they own. The sexual chemistry is there immediately, Mia tries to fight it off for many reasons. Can Ryker win Mia's heart.

I could not put this book down. Even though it is a short story, it is packed with a wonderful story of moving forward in life. The most important thing is, every woman needs a Ryker in their life. Ryker made Mia feel beautiful and whole again.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone but you will enjoy so much that you will want to read the whole series. I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Montana is the place to be

I loved this beautifully written, emotional story that takes place in Marietta, Montana. Mia moves back home with her two kids after her marriage falls apart and she has health issues. Thoughts and plans for the future are helping her through the tough time in her life, when a wrench called Ryker puts a halt to her plans. I loved being taken back to Marietta and glimpsing into the lives of the folks there, I feel like I am a part of their special community.

Still it is a wonderful read, reminding me that it takes people from ...

When I started reading Montana Darling, I thought this is a bit different from the usual Marietta, Montana books. There is not a cowboy in sight. Still it is a wonderful read, reminding me that it takes people from all walks of life to make a community prosperous. Lawyers and photographers are also needed as in the case of this story.

The main character, Mia Zabrinski is a smart, rather angry, and cynical, tough mother with two teenage children. Just like one would expect her to be after the fight for her life that followed on the heels of her divorce. I liked her even though she could be brash. Ryker Bensen is the perfect opposite as her love interest. I could easily see why she thought him to be to zen-y in the beginning. Both have suffered loses that must be faced before they can have a future. It is the working through this issues that make the story so interesting.

The fight over the land is what makes their path cross but is not to me the driving force of the story. I really liked that it is a deeper story than just land rights. Montana Darling deals with the harsh reality of life. For the amazing way that Debra Salonen deals with life after breast cancer for a single woman I applaud her. Nothing is sugar coated but neither is it a pessimist viewpoint either. All around good read.

SO Entertaining!!!

Nicole Edwards is a professional baker living in New York. She also happens to be extremely unlucky in love. In fact, she’s convinced she has a curse when it comes to men, causing her to clam up and freeze when she’s anywhere near a man she’s attracted to. She’s always had her job to fall back on though and she’s let it become the love of her life. That’s why she decides to completely uproot herself, sell her business, and move clear across the country (literally) to work out of a food truck and give herself a fresh start to find love. However, Sean O’Malley doesn’t want that to happen. He’s a chef that often works with Nicole and he’s got a business proposition for her. He’d like to go into business with the spunky, spontaneous baker so that he can expand his own business. However, he thinks it’ll take more than a business proposition to get her to stay so he offers to help her overcome her “curse” and takes her under his wing to teach her a thing or two about what men want in a woman. Can Sean help Nicole overcome her curse? He desperately wants her to stay and not only for the expansion of his business. Is there a future personally or professionally for them?

This book was SO entertaining!! I literally laughed out loud several times. I loved the dynamic between Nicole and Sean. Since they’re polar opposites, it made for several really funny scenarios. I thought the story was great and super fun to read. It was really funny to see Sean trying to help Nicole because oftentimes it was an epic fail. I loved the dialogue and the chemistry between the two of them. I also really loved that the author had a sweet little twist dealing with Sean’s perception of Nicole and how it relates to his memories of his deceased mother. This was SUCH a fun book to read. I read it in about a day because I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a great sequel, but totally works as a stand-alone if you haven’t read the first book in the series. I HIGHLY recommend this great read!

A Taste of Romance

What a wonderful read filled with humor and romance. All you have to do is look at the front of the book to know it's going to be a great read. Nicole Edwards is a master baker who has been asked by Tiffany Bonander to help her with wedding preparations for possible wedding #6. No not 6 marriages, but 6 fiancés. Nicole just can't understand it. Heavens she had already been a bridesmaid 13 times and not one fiancé! How did the woman do it, Nicole would be happy to just have one. She's decided to put her business up for sale and move to L.A. to buy a food truck, so this will be her last wedding. She is spending Valentine's weekend in Cedar City, Utah to prepare dessert items for the bride and her future inlaws as sort of a dry run for the official wedding in 2 months. The only unfortunate thing is the wedding caterer, the high and mighty Chef Sean O'Malley. She has worked with him numerous times and knows he runs on a rigid schedule and barks orders constantly. When she confides to Sean this is her last wedding because she is selling her business and planning to move. Sean sets out change her mind because he has plans of his own. Suddenly his plans backfire and make her more determined to fulfill hers.
This is a wonderful story with lovable characters. The author uses true to life dialogue that pulls the reader in to the story. The fast moving plot line will keep the reader turning the pages. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance. I was given this book by the author for a honest and unbiased review as stated above.

Auto Correct Made Me Laugh Outloud

This is the second book in the Bridesmaid Series. The first was The Wedding Promise, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Always a Bridesmaid is Nicole and Sean’s story. It also includes, in the headings of every chapter, emails to each other from the characters in the first book of the series. It’s a stand-alone book, but the emails make much more sense if you’ve read the first book.

I loved this story! It was fun, flirty, had some snort moments (you know if you’d been drinking milk and laughed so hard you snorted and milk goes everywhere), and kept me interested clear to the end of the book. The characters were yummy. They were flawed, witty and colorful. I liked that each of the main characters learned something during the course of the book. For the most part this was a clean read. There is definitely just kissing, one swear word, and the innuendos were more about funny situations that the characters experienced or said. They were more ‘adult’ in nature. (“Such as the one character’s phone sending a text with auto correct using ‘porn’ instead of ‘pork’ which makes the message quite funny, a wardrobe malfunction, etc.) Most likely the innuendos would go over a younger teen’s head. I’d still be a bit apprehensive allowing a teen to read it.
Always a Bridesmaid will put a smile on your face and make you laugh out loud.

Fantastic series

The Forbidden series is actually a series this author wrote years ago. I was about to buy it until I realized I’ve already bought and read in its previous form. I bought it as Moan for Uncle, but it was also Moan for Him, I think. It’s a pretty straightforward series and I really enjoyed it.

The first few books emphasize the taboo nature of their relationship, Grant is the adoptive brother of his father. So not really blood related, but it does have that forbidden aspect to it. As the series progresses the stories become longer and the characters more developed. I was hooked after book two. All in all, it’s a fun series and worth the read.

Hot, hot, hot!

I wished this was longer, but it did manage to jam-pack a lot into it for the length. Uncle Grant is a CIA agent that Nikki has been in love with forever. He’s a work-a-holic, never home and always on some dangerous assignment so whenever he’s home it’s a treat. This time when he comes home, however, he takes her out for her birthday. He has an innocent and fun night planned for her, but she has other plans. This was an insanely sexy story, which was also really sweet. I’ll be reading onto the next book in the series.

Sexy - Recommended

I’ve been seeing a lot of these types of stories popping up lately with the kinda taboo factor, some full length novels and some short stories, this one falls under novella. I would rate this as one of the better ones, it’s a little sex heavy, but if that’s what you’re looking for then you won’t be disappointed. This one has a little depth to it, more than I expected to be honest for the length. I see there’s more books to the series so I’m going to assume the characters are flushed out more as the series progresses.

Lots of Heart

I said it after reading her first book and I'll say it again: Amity Lassiter's books have a classically romantic feel that I very much enjoy. We first meet Noah Baylor in Runaway Heart, the story of his brother, Dane. In that book, he seems very much a carefree and fun character, but in Homecoming Heart, we get to see more of the heartache and turmoil that lies within him. After his brother dies in an accident, Noah goes into a bit of a tailspin, laying destruction to some of the relationships around him, namely that of the neighbor girl and his best friend, Emma Pierce. After coming to his rescue one too many times, Emma leaves for Denver and another job, sending Noah into even more of a funk.
I love reunion stories, I enjoy reading how relationships can evolve through time and space. I appreciated witnessing Emma's struggle in her own womanhood, in gaining and retaining confidence in her self-worth. I think that is a struggle for all women, and that felt real and true. Both Emma and Noah had some growing up to do and their time apart proved beneficial. Upon Emma's unexpected return, the question becomes with that time and space, did they grown enough to have a relationship with each other?
I didn't always feel the connection between Emma and Noah and it felt a little like some of their issues were brushed over instead of truly dealt with.
Lassiter's writing, overall, is very organized and her stories and plot lines seem very thought out and well planned. I like that family is highly valued amongst her characters and loved revisiting with Dane and Ren from Runaway Heart.
Homecoming Heart is an enchanting romance with a beautiful setting and spending time with the Baylor family is a great way to escape for a day.

Homecomings, second chance at Love and sweet couple

Homecoming Heart;
An overdue homecoming , a second chance at love, I have really come to enjoy the second chance stories and this book was no exception.
Emma Pierce left her home , her parents and her best freind Noah behind two years ago when she left Three Rivers to move to Denver to work with Regengade Racing, the offer was perfect timing, she needed to get away from Noah her heart needed a break, she was too invested and Noah was in a tailspin.
Noah Baylor , has been in a downward spiral since loosing his brother and sister in law in a horrific car accident , and then the loss of his other sister in law to cancer he is finding solace at the bottom of the bottle and any willing women, unwittingly hurting Emma not realizing how much his best freinds feelings have changed for him and not realizing how much his own has changed for her till she was gone.
Emma, after staying away for two years is brought home by her father being injured and help being needed in the home farm, she arrives to find the man she has tried to forget, getting off her Dad's tractor and pulling her into a warm embrace setting her body and mind to traitorous tingles only proving to her how little she has gotten over him.
Noah's spent the last year trying to become a better man with the help of his brother Finn, a better man for Emma.

Noah and Emma , have issues and misunderstandings to work through but what you get is a lovely second chance romance, with a sexy cowboy in love with his best freind, a cute cowgirl with body image issues and more likely to run than face situations head on and some hot times between the two.

I have to also mention that Miss Lassiter writes these characters in such a way that you become absolutely immersed in the story and start t feel like part of the the Three Rivers Family, the story continuity and carry over from the first book to this keeps you up to date with the Baylor family and their affairs. I also admire Miss Lasiter for giving us. A female character with curves and a few extra pounds, after all we are all not a size two.

A great addition to this series

It's always a curious thing to me when books write of families such as the Pierces and Baylors -- how is it that all the Baylor boys see the Pierce girl as a sister, but at some point in time, one of them realizes she's a girl and wants to be with her?

*I have to say, though: I think Noah has always loved Emma. In a memory of their circuit days, when Noah would drive Emma and their horses around the rodeos, Emma recalls a win in which Noah picks her up and twirls her around. While this is a friendly gesture, it screams intimacy to me. And his declaration of love while drunk (which we'll get into in a bit)? They say only the truth comes out when in that state....

I have no doubt that it happens, none at all, but like I said... it's just a curious thing I have. Regardless, I do love these stories. Like Noah says, she's already a Baylor, they just have to make it official...

I love how "normal" Emma is (body wise) -- and that Noah loves how normal she is. You first see his appreciation for her when he notes her "thick thighs". And while body image stories can be a bit overdone, I like that Amity doesn't overdo the negative thoughts. Yes, they're there -- they don't go away over night, or after one naked encounter. When those feelings are there, and you see your partner with others who you feel are better suited for him/more the 'better mold', you're going to have doubts -- it's the nature of the beast. But like I said, I like that it didn't take away from the story. Emma was able to still be her comfortable, joking self with Noah; the self-doubt moments didn't overtake her thoughts and actions, and when they did seap in, Noah helped put them to rest.

When Emma comes back home to Three Rivers, things between she and Noah are fine -- at least on the surface. Both battle emotions and uncertainties where the other is concerned. When Emma left, it was to protect her mind and her heart. When Emma left, Noah's life further unraveled. But when she came back home, the hugs, smirks, and sarcastic comments continued as if the years weren't there. Sure, there were uncomfortable moments: (quote on original post on blog)

...but they work through them.

If there is one thing I wish of this book, it would be to have more insight as to the year that Noah screwed everything up. You get glimpses of it, and really, you get the big-bang-finale of the year, but when it's stated that "[t]he process of unraveling the year after she'd left had been long, painful, and not without tears, but they'd holed up in his apartment from the first Friday afternoon he was there until the following Monday morning so they would work it all out, with the promise that neither would leave until it was over, no matter how painful it was..." -- well, I personally want to know everything that he did. However... it isn't really pertinent to the story. What matters is that Noah and Emma found their way back to eachother and while things could have been awkward, they worked things out.

When Emma's rolling out of bed, often, in the middle of the night to bail Noah out, you know she cares for him. And while it was a drunk declaration, you know that Noah means it when he tells her he loves her that first time. Yes, Emma was right to try and ignore it; she's probably right that he says it because he wants/needs her to stay... but she needed to experience the world away from Three Rivers.

In the end...

I loved RUNAWAY HEART.

I really loved HOMECOMING HEART. This is definitely a re-reader. Were there things I wish filled the book out more? Sure. But what was given worked for me. I hardly noticed I was lacking 'pieces' until after I sat back, digested, and thought. During the reading process, though... I was thoroughly content and enamoured with these two.

I cannot wait for Finn's second chance at love in SECONDHAND HEART. The synopsis sounds great. I can't help but wish I'd "gotten a chance to know Sunny, and Gavin (& his wife), too" -- I put it in quotes, because obviously I can't meet them, but wish as a reader, we had more than character memories of the three of these people. They were obviously well loved.

About the Author
An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett O'Hara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play that she penned. (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she also starred in and tried to direct the production.) Tracie’s dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a "real" job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, she decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. Twin Piques is her third Chick Lit release. The pet psychic character in this novel was inspired by Tracie’s rascally rescue dogs. She’d love to know what goes on in their heads!

Banister does it again!

Hooray for the latest book from Tracie Banister. These twins will pique your interest from page one to the last line. The book is funny and charming, and filled with great characters, cute men, and even cuter dogs!

The story covers a summer in the lives of two identical twins who couldn't be more different. Pet psychic Willa is all sunshine and happiness. She firmly believes in love and is looking for The One, but mostly she's been looking in the wrong places. (Previously married to a mime? Really? Too funny!) Meanwhile, Sloane can't understand how her sister can believe in happily-ever-after when all men ultimately leave you disappointed and heart-broken. After all, they had the same dad (who actively chose to be a non-entity in their lives), so shouldn't Willa have learned the same lesson Sloane did? And now Sloane's worried Willa will end up broken hearted (yet again!).

Of course, it doesn't help that "I'm all about what's logical" Sloane sees the worst of people in her job as a forensic accountant. Dealing with corporate crooks and ugly divorcees on a daily basis is enough to test her faith in humanity. So, it's her job that Sloane is laser-focused on. She's so busy working on 2 huge assignments, searching for new clients, and enjoying a no-strings arrangement with a co-worker that she can't see what Willa sees - that their childhood friend Gav, who has moved back into his family home next door to care for his dad, might be the best thing for Sloane.

I really enjoyed spending time with these sisters. I couldn't decide which one I liked better. I think probably most of us can relate to sides of both of their personalities. (I *try* to see the good in people, so could relate to Willa, and I loved her for her optimism and dog-loving ways, but I can also be pretty cynical so very much enjoyed Sloane's snarky personality.) I think you'll enjoy spending time with them too. Their shared story is both funny and touching, and will keep you reading until the last satisfying page.

It is always a pleasure to read a creatively developed, well written & fun story. I couldn't wait to finish this novel to see how the twins really get their men. Tracie has a wonderful sense of meshing the real world with that of fantasy. I've already ordered her two previous novels. Keep writing, Tracie!

Two Royal Romances in a Tale of Twins from the Queen of Chick Lit!

Fans of the chick lit genre have been eagerly awaiting Tracie Banister's newest release, and the wait was worth it! TWIN PIQUES is a clever, charming read of identical twin sisters Willa and Sloane, and their rendezvous with romance, which continually seems to get off track. I was immediately drawn to Willa, a pet psychic (how fun!) and an innocent idealist when it comes to matters of life and love. But Sloane, Willa's identical twin, has zilcho interest when it comes to romance. Sloane, a high-profile accountant, is more interested in climbing the corporate ladder. Willa's continual involvements in her sister's love life leads to dissension in the ranks. I found it great fun to read how Willa's psychic pet connections continually clued her in as to `what-should-I-do-next?' when it came to `assisting' in Sloane's love life, along with Willa's own romantic misadventures.

Banister is a brilliant writer who knows exactly what she's doing when it comes to delivering the perfect read. TWIN PIQUES is the story of two sisters, two men, two lives, and two plots, which ultimately intersect in the perfect happily-ever-after(s). Banister's quick savvy voice hooks the reader from page one and you won't put this book down until the last fabulous page. Kudos to Banister for having delivered with this uber-enjoyable read. Her other two novels (In Need of Therapy and Blame it on The Fame) are on my keeper-shelf, and I'm looking forward to her next novel!

Errors and kind of a cliffhanger

I enjoyed the first book and decided to continue with the box set. I like the writing, in general, but there are grammar, spelling and writing errors.
#1 - The books in the box set aren't marked as being new stories in any way. So I had the first, stand alone book and had to search for the beginning of the second story. It was annoying.
#2 - The writer changes point of view. From first-person, Sasha's point of view to Charles in third person, I would be ok with, but it also slips into third-person with Sasha sometimes. At one point, the story was running along using "I", switched to "She" for a paragraph, then back to "I". It also never indicates when a change occurs, so I just have to assume "I" is Sasha until I read far enough to know if I'm right.
#3 - There are some grammar, spelling and space issues
#4 - The books are not standalone. You have to buy all of them in the box set to get the full story.

If you can get past those issues, and the instant magical connection between the main characters, the graphic language (not a problem for me, but you might care) and sex, give the book a try.

Not as good as the Chosen series

I read the Chosen series and thought I had found a new favorite author. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in this series. The plot in the first four books had a lot of action and interesting twists which I did enjoy. However, the raw sex on almost every page was a distraction and I found too blatant, including The humor which was mostly sexually oriented. Humans were regularly ridiculed, abused and raped by the males in this nonhuman culture and that activity was treated lightly in the story. I was disappointed in the male hero who was pretty much led around by his small head after meeting the female lead. She also became more and more in charge as the story progressed and did an awful lot of yelling. Would have preferred to see a strong partnerships, instead of having the strong male abdicate to the tiny female. Most of the other males were a little too focused on their sex lives to be taken seriously. It appears to me that the author built this story around a race of people whose sexual activity was depraved by most standards in order to fill the story with as must sex as possible. Probably should have a disclaimer in this book to let readers know in advance that this book is X rated.

Into the Darkness, which is the first book in this series, is the reason I became a Breene fan! This is an awesome set of books that will make you want to buy the rest in the series, just to see how it ends. Breene takes us on a ride with Sasha and Stefan (Boss), sprinkled in with a little Charles and Jonas. Once you start reading, you are going to be excited that you have the first 4 to read at once. Enjoy!
