I've already read the other books in this series, and enjoyed them immensely.

Death is a minor inconvenience in the path to true love.

Alstair Gorman is a Reaper - the first ever Reaper marked by Hades (God of the Underworld) and given his own scythe. When Alstair is sent to a meeting to determine the new headmaster of the Mayell Wizard Academy, Porter is assigned to accompany him.

Porter has a secret. He convinced Hades to let him go with Alstair, not only because he harbored a huge crush on the man, but also because he wanted to make sure the man who killed him paid for his crime. Alstair, doesn't have time to worry about that, because when he arrives at the academy he finds out that Hades has signed him up as one of the competitors - for the headmaster's position.

I've already read the other books in this series, and enjoyed them immensely. Amber Kell's imagery is so funny sometimes, and yet so spot on.

As a Reaper, and a man with a hurtful past, Alstair didn't do relationships, and wasn't a gentle or caring man. But there was something about Porter that brought out the nice guy in the man and Ms. Kell describes that beautifully.

"But one warm glance from Porter's eyes and Alstair wished he could gather all of the perfect words, tie them up in a shiny bow then present them to his lover."

The two men apparently had powers that complimented each other perfectly and for some reason Alstair becomes completely taken with Porter. That is not explained very well, but perhaps it was simply a matter of the Reaper having been on his own for so long, and Porter being such a sweet guy – well, I am still not sure. But the two men’s coming together was sweet and hot. There's explosions, deaths (of course) and a love story and although I thought the ending was a little rushed, like the other books in this series, it was a great read. An added bonus was we heard more about Dean, one of the triplets from the earlier books. His happiness was the icing on the cake of this story.

Great Continuation

Porters Reaper was a great continuation of the Wizard's Touch Series. After we discover that Porter is a ghost and meet Alstair in Zheng's Heart and find out that the triplets Dean, Devin and Dan would find their mates and stay together because that is how they were strongest, it was not a wonder that this book would focus on Alstair, a reaper and Porter. Porter's main goal is to avenge his death, while Alstair was tricked into competing for the position of headmaster. There were a large number of twist and turns in this story and they made this a complicated, yet enjoyable book.

Deopth without too much angsty darkness

I'm an Amber Kell fan. I own almost every book she has written. She does a good job with world building for this series. Her take on magic and the paranormal is different and refreshing.

This particular story thrilled me. Since she has come at this world so differently, she has characters that are able to act and be unique. There is some drama for us, but this story remains light-hearted enough not to bog the reader down in darkness. One of the main characters is a Reaper, so it would be so easy to do. Instead, Ms. Kell gives us characters that are easy to fall for.

Boy Do Sparks Fly!

Highland Sparks is this author's best in my eyes to date. I have followed this series since its inception. Every time I think this is the best yet, Ms. Montclair out does herself. I am an honest reviewer so if I give a story a 5 star it is because, in my opinion, it is well deserved. As it is with Logan and Gwyneth's story.

Logan Ramsay and Gwyneth of the Cunninghams were fantastic characters. For me there were never any lulls in the story. Their story grasped my attention from the very beginning and never let me go. I truly love when a story can do that to me.

Their banter was terrific and so entertaining. I laughed out loud numerous times throughout. The passionate love scenes were perfect for my taste too. The storyline drew me in page after page. I loved the fact that the other characters from the previous books were incorporated into it too.

A terrific read. I received this as a gift. I will say, if you love Highlanders, then pick this up. You will enjoy it. The whole series is wonderful. I am anxious for the next story in this series.

Wonderful author with great humor and her love for children comes through until the very end of her books.

Keira Montclair is a wonderful story teller and I have loved everything I've read that is written by her. If you have not discovered her and you like strong characters that are gentle and loving toward children, then she is the author to read. The last book she wrote was my favorite, but only because I read the other Grant series and Logan is in the other 4 books. I liked him from the beginning in book 2 and Gwyneth is strong welled, but has some issues that he helps get her through. Start with the Grant series and I promise you will not be able to buy the other 4 books quick enough. Good luck with discovering her as I did this year.

A Little Disappointed

I had read two of the other Clan series books and thought Logan was an interesting character so I was looking forward to this one. However, I never expected him to be matched up to such a selfish woman! Not only was she selfish, but she lied repeatedly without remorse. To me she lacked integrity and he could/should have done much better in obtaining a wife. For that reason I've lost interest in the Clan series and will not be reading another one.

A Beautiful Read

Charles and Rose didn't meet until the day of their wedding. He was taken aback at how frail she was from an illness of which he was unaware. Rose was weary from her travels, from her illness, from her former life that she could hardly stay awake.

She was very ill, and he cared for her, a complete stranger in his home. They found a new level of appreciation for each other. The appreciation grew to respect. The respect grew to like, and the like grew to love. A love deeper than either of them ever imagined they could have for each other.

Reading this novel, I was truly transported to the time period of this novel. The author's beautiful writing style is effortless, and very easy to read. I could see the countryside described, hear the sounds of the crickets at dusk, smell the herbal tea, taste the home-cooked foods, and feel the warmth of the sunshine on my face. The scriptures and prayers evoked a sense of calm and peace within. They were so pure and sincere.

When I finished reading this novel, I immediately went back to the first page and started reading it again. I only hope and pray there are more novels to come.

This is definately a Christian written story that is both a growing love story between a very ill mail order bride and her rancher husband and the love the community showers on the couple.

The bride arrives extremely ill, fainting after leaving the train. This couple face fear, confusion,
questions about the true feelings towards each other, and the ability of one man turning to scripture and his pastor for help. The couple begins to leave letters to each other at home to try to convey their feelings of their circumstances.

The book is well worth the time and money, and worthy of an award.

Gentle and sweet

This is a clean Christian romance. The description of the storyline leads you to believe that this is a sweet, feel good book. It is exactly that. Gentle and sweet with a strong Christian thread and several scripture references. There are some typos, conflicts in time period reference and one flat out mistake, most of which could have been fixed with a good proof read. Still, this book is like a soothing balm that puts a smile on your face and a sigh on your lips. If you are in the mood for a calm, gentle love story this one is for you.

I would have rated a 4 if it had finished. Instead, when it gets very interesting it tells you to buy the next book to know how the story ends. Very disappointed. I do not intend to purchase the second half!

A worthy start to a new trilogy

While I own every single book written by Nora Roberts, I have to say that I usually enjoy her paperback novels better than the hardcover books (Not that it stops me from buying every one of them!).
This particular novel tells the story of Nell, a woman fleeing from an abusive husband to a fictitous island off the coast of Massachusetts, Three Sisters. There she finds her first real feeling of home, friends that she has a mystical bond with and a handsome sheriff who is her soulmate.
The novel nicely blends the charm of a small town and the mystical events that we expect from Nora Roberts. It also is effective at setting up the two upcoming novels that will complete the trilogy. Packed with likeable characters and well paced, the novel is worthy of her "Born in" series.
I really loved this book. It was a surprising and satisfying read that kept me turing pages long into the night. I recommend it highly.

Frustrating, but good.

This is the first Nora Roberts book I've read, and it was recommended by a friend who thought I would appreciate the witchy content, since I'm Wiccan. I don't normally read romance novels, so I'm not sure how much some of the things that irked me are "part of the genre."
First, what I loved. Nell's struggle to form a new life for herself was empowering and believable, she is an interesting and sympathetic character. I especially appreciated her efforts to "edit out" the inner voice of her abusive husband. I absolutely LOVED the island. Sounds like the kind of place where I'd give anything to live-- Martha's Vineyard but without some of the price inflation? ;) I loved the Ripley character, too. When she finally gives in to her Craft destiny, I could just SEE her "swagger into the circle."
Now, for what frustrated me. I could just as easily-- perhaps MORE easily-- get into and sympathize with these characters if they weren't so perfect. So beautiful, accomplished, neat, talented, and skinny. (Must we know Nell is a "size six"? Would she be less sympathetic if she happened to be a size sixteen?) Most Witches I know are "average" people-- their beauty shines from within. The other thing is the fantasy-magic. Contrary to the Christian reviewer who thought this book was a primer for Wicca, it's not. You can't use magic to instantly bring dead flowers back to life, or create fire from nothing. Wicca is a beautiful and yes, magical religion. It's too bad that authors have to add the Dose of Hollywood to make it work for readers.
I'm aware that romance readers probably aren't looking to see the warts in life, but if you're going to try for an accurate portrayal of an abused wife (and I think Roberts succeeded admirably on that front), why not go the extra step of realistic characters and real magic?

The Queen of the Trilogies Strikes Again !

Nora Roberts is one of the few 'constants' in romantic fiction today. As an author, she paints vivid characters and sets a colorful scene in your mind where her story will unfold. Her books never fail to capture your interest from the first paragraph and hold it till the last sentence. Her trilogies are beyond compare. 'Dance Upon the Air' is the first of a new trilogy that we fans have been panting for. As she did with her 'Donaovan Legacy' novels, the backdrop here is witchcraft. Trust me when I tell you, when you've finished reading this book, you'll wish you knew where to find a local, practicing 'good witch'. Mia Devlin finds the completion to the 'circle of three' in new islander Nell Channing. She knows Nell is running away, but sees in her the promise of the future. As in all Nora Roberts books, or hero Zack Todd is big, brainy and beautiful. The perfect knight in a shinig sheriff's badge. You get immersed in the love developing between Zack and Nell, and intrigued by Mia's spell casting and 'calling up the wind'. Ripley Todd, sure to be the star of one of the two remaining installments share some of the wittiest and most biting dialog with Mia. Their all too brief altercations will having laughing out loud. I can, and have blindly recommended Nora Roberts books to all my friends without reservation, and 'Dance Upon The Air' is no exception. I can not wait until the fall release of the second book of the trilogy. Thanks again Nora! We can always depend on you !

I fell in love instantly with this story!!!

"Often times you heard about best friends becoming lovers and it didn't always work out in the end. Did I think Eden and I were an exception to that? I suppose only time would tell."

One of my favorite types of stories to read are those involving rekindled romances. This book quickly became one of my favorites.

High school reunions can be fun. Seeing your old friends, talking to people you haven't seen since you graduated, and bringing up all the good memories. For Eden Richardt, it was the hardest thing she could ever go to. See, Eden left her hometown the day after graduation and never looked back. She went to college, became a successful radio personality, and lived a great life in Nashville. Until one day a letter was read on air that sealed her fate.
She was going back home.

"I feel like everything that has been missing in my life has been found when I'm with him."

Baylor Jenkins fell in love in high school. The only problem was that he couldn't tell her. This girl was his best friend. How could he possibly tell her his feelings and her not flip out? What he didn't know was she felt the same. The night of graduation, he finally made his move only to have her vanish the next day. Now this reunion is coming up. Will she come? Will she explain why she left so suddenly?
Will she ever be his?

"I've missed you so much, Eden. I've caught myself many times over the years thinking about you and wondering if you were truly happy in all aspects of your life. I know it's inevitable but I'll continue to beat myself up over not going after you."

I loved Eden and Baylor from the start. Those two along with their other best friend, Dean, made this story truly come to life. The Three Musketeers, as they called each other, were a true testament of what friendship is. Even though Eden had left Baylor and Dean fifteen years ago, they still had this undeniable connection. I found myself wanting to be a part of their group. I have to admit that Dean is too funny and swoonworthy in his own right;)

Another dynamic of the book is the character Norah. She is Baylor's twelve year old daughter. She is quirky, fun, and always looking out for her dad. Which is why she will do anything to make this romance between him and Eden to come together. I loved the closeness that Baylor had with his daughter.

You also have Eden's friends back in Nashville. Her co-worker, Blaine, and her best girlfriend, Julia. Even though Julia couldn't be with Eden during this reunion, she never stopped helping her through everything. She knew why Eden ran all those years ago, and she was determined to keep her strong. But there's only so much you can do when fate and love have other plans.

"Just don't falling in love with him, Eden, you've gotta protect your heart."
"Oh you won't have to worry about that, I won't go falling in love with him. You can't fall in love with someone you already still love."

It's amazing what happens to people after they don't see each other for fifteen years. I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! I'm such a hopeless romantic.

"You were it, Baylor. No guy in high school would've ever compared. No guy still compares to you. You set a pretty high standard."

"This woman, whether she knew it or not, owned me and my heart. She always had the ability to strip me bare of my emotions and leave me raw. I hoped that I consumed her even a fraction of what she had consumed me."

I can not tell you all the things I loved about this story! The friendship, the love, the family, and the struggle of it all. Every little detail and feature made me feel so much emotion. Not just the lovey parts, but the funny side-spliting parts, and the heartbreaking moments that leave you with a tear in your eye.

I can't wait to read more about these characters!! I tell you that I need more of all of them. I know they arent done yet:)

I love when a book just takes you to the basics of love-first love. They say that your first love is the hardest thing you'll ever get over. For some, like Eden and Baylor, it's the one thing you always strive for.

Great Second Chance

More Than A Memory was a second chance love story about the one that got away and now thank you to a class reunion might have another chance!
We meet Eden who left her hometown suddenly with no explanation and now it is time for her High School Reunion which Eden has no desire to go to, that is until she receives a letter and soon enough she is packing up her bags an heading back home!
Baylor is still living in his hometown with his daughter from his ex-wife Kristina. He has always wondered what happened to Eden after that one night back in high school!
I read and finished this book basically in one sitting. Right from the beginning I was rooting for Eden and Baylor!! But has too much happened in the past to get in the way of these two and their amazing chemistry together? I loved all the characters in this book, especially Baylor's daughter there were times where I was actually giggling! Amber did an amazing job once again on this book and I will admit I am hopeful for more!! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone especially those that love a second chance at love!!

Entertaining. Well written.

I've been a Joan Wolf fan for years and I am glad she is sharing her work in this format (available as ebooks). This one is not my favorite, or her best, but I did enjoy it. It includes a look at the political activity of the time, and charming lead characters; however, I wanted more development of some of the other characters.
My favorites by Joan Wolf include The Guardian and The Gamble. I have read several of her books more than once, and they feel like coming home, especially when "real life" is not so much fun!

I love joan wolf but this was not one of her best. I have read almost all her books and this was good but not up to her standards.
