Action from the very beginning!

A great 4th installment! I just love James and Mandy, and they just shined in this book. There was action from the very beginning--a bomb! Watching James and Mandy deal with the repercussions of that ordeal and the long healing process really added another level to their relationship. Of course, I just loved the ending!

A new character, Jake, is introduced, and he and Ally are certainly eyeing one another--I can't wait to see where that goes! I believe the next book will focus on them, and I'm glad that Jake was introduced first so we have a little background on them.

Grady and Sophie also played more of a role in this book, and I just loved when Sophie met the Hardy parents! Emma and Finn were barely present, must like Grady and Sophie in book 3, and it again just felt a bit odd to me. I understand that you can't give everyone equal "screen time" without the story getting too long or confusing. However, it just feels odd to me when one couple is barely mentioned for no reason.

I can't wait for book 5!

A Great Series

Gosh I love the Hardy Brothers Security series. To date the books only get better. This is book 4. They really need to be read in order for the full benefit. There are ongoing characters in each book. As stated before I hope they box set this series soon. So far all of the books have been Kindle unlimited, but would definitely pay for them,

One of the best books I've read EVER

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! From page 1 until the very last word of this novel, every single thing about this story was freakin' incredible!

Zeus is nuts. Certifiably and utterly insane. Psychopathic. Sociopathic. Whatever, who cares about labels. It makes him a perfect team member for Mama's Brood, a group of mercenaries who Sabrina Samora has the good fortune of being rescued by...though if she thinks too much about that "good fortune," she'll collapse in fear. She's terrified of the huge god of a man who has deemed himself her protector, but if she's being honest, she's more terrified of her reaction to him. His very vocal reaction that they WILL be having sex should make her run away screaming, not make her have to change her panties!

Zeus just wants to purge this loudmouthed woman from his mind, and he's certain once he has her, his brain and body will go back to normal. Well, his version of normal anyway, which, admittedly, is not normal. With crazier men than him after Sabrina, and it is up to him to protect her, it leaves Zeus plenty of time to convince her to give it up. But with Sabrina, once will never be enough...

Ok, I don't say this about books very often, but seriously, GO. GET. THIS. ONE. RIGHT. NOW. The opening chapter of this first book in the Mama's Brood Series had me saying WOAH...this PSYCHO is our hero? WTH?! It sucked me in immediately, but I couldn't (and still can't) figure out how Ms. Rucker made Zeus an appealing character! The opening chapter makes it seem like he's about to rape a totally incapacitated woman after killing everyone around her and getting aroused by the bloodlust. As the book goes on though, you find that Zeus is much more multidimensional than just this wild-eyed killer. Even his single-minded focus on getting Sabrina into bed didn't diminish my enjoyment of him; instead it added an element of humor to an otherwise dark romantic suspense.

All in all, Zeus is NOT a good guy. He just happens to go after the guys who are badder than him. His need to kill is obscene and severe...yet strangely attractive. I don't get it, I don't get him, but I loved LOVED him and Sabrina together. She was the PERFECT foil for his psychopathic tendencies and tamed his rougher edges nicely (but not too much). The sex was edgy and raw and wicked and I freakin' loved every single scene. I will be first in line for the next issue in this series.

Bottom Line: This is not some flowery and sweet romance novel. It's bloody and gory, sometimes disgusting and disturbing, but dammit if it's not one of the best books I've read EVER. This is one book I will recommend to my friends, even those who scoff at the erotic genre. If I could give this one 100 stars, I totally would.

Worth every cent!!!

Shay Rucker, where have you been and why has it taken you so long to get here!!!! I've been waiting FOREVER for you!

I came upon this book by accident; I probably even passed it by several times before I finally clicked on it. I liked the storyline, but I've been burned one too many times by these new authors, so I had to pause on this book, esp given the price. After reading the free summary, I just knew that this was the book for me!! It combined all my favorites; interracial (BWWM) romance with the right amount of action, intrigue, and crazy!!!! I even sense a paranormal element at work! Ms. Rucker, you have the potential to be the second-coming of Shelly Laurenston/GA Aiken for me - SL/GA is "everything" to me, so that's the highest complement that I can give any author, and you're the only one that I've given it to!

I am a die-hard IR romance fan (BW heroine a must), but it's so hard to find one that has romance, action, a great storyline, LOL moments, and characters, even the women, who are wonderfully dysfunctional in the best of ways!!! It wasn't until I read a book by Shelly Laurenston that I finally got what I was looking for; however, authors like SL are practically non-existent (I have searched and searched and searched). At some point in this book, I thought "OMG!! I think I've found my next Shelly!!). Now it's too soon to tell if you are in fact the second-coming, which will have me reading any book you write - even the non/IR, but I'm definitely checking for you, and I need the next book in this series STAT!

Okay, guys, now that I've got that out the way, buy this book!!! It was worth every cent. If you like intrigue, bada$$ characters with a side of crazy that will have you laughing out loud, hot/hot sex, a serious Alpha Male who will either be your dream come true or your worst nightmare, and a heroine that you can get behind, this is definitely the book for you!! It's a series, but it's not a cliffhanger story. Well done, Ms. Rucker, well done!!!!!

SOOO DISAPPOINTING!!

I was so disappointed when I finished this book. I was upset because I felt like "What am I going to read next?" What can follow behind this story and be entertaining??

Zeus ...Hes either a certified nut case or genius not sure which. He's definitely a killer with a 1 track mind towards Sabrina.....until he figures it out. Read the book. You will see.
Sabrina- smart, funny, strong when she needs to be, not at all one of those whiny "why me" and "I'm so insecure about life and everything else" female leads that are dominating so many books these days.
All I can say is get the sample and I'm sure you will purchase before the sample is finished. I know I did.

Back to her old self!!

Well, I am so happy to say that after the catastrophe that was the previous Wolves of StoneRidge book, Charlie Richards has redeemed herself, showing off the talent that was so rich in the beginning of this series! This book is right back up to the standards that we, her faithful series readers, have come to expect. The plot was full of fun, conflict, drama, excitement, and of course smokin hot wolf lovin!
**MINOR SPOILERS**
In this book we meet Rowan again, he is a history teacher at the local StoneRidge school and is asked by the alpha Declan to keep an eye on a transferring Senior who has a way with hacking computer systems. The student has been expelled from his former school for that very thing and has been shipped to his grandmothers house in StoneRidge to complete the final 2 months of his senior year and graduate. Well that of course is where the fun begins because this 18 yr. old turns out to be his mate, and still in the closet with an attraction only to older men! What ensues is a very good and interesting read that I am so happy was nothing like its predecessor. I am hoping that Ms. Charlie continues to hand out these types of books, the gargoyles, Kontra's ménage and a paranormal love included, because as long as they keep on like this, then I'll keep buying!

Not up to par...

I normally enjoy the series but this one just didn't do it for me. Rowen was very generic in character while William, he just was too much of a brat for most of the story. Also, this takes place in a school environment but there isn't any flack about the two becoming involved (teacher / student).

What I don't get is when characters make an appearance such as Lyle in the beginning, essentially have a single line, and disappear for the rest of the story. This happened with the previous story with Toby & Tullion (which I really enjoyed since many of the earlier series characters popped in) where Lyle was there but didn't have any lines and disappeared again.

Rowen St. Paul has a problem a serious problem this handsome shifter has found his mate and it is not a good time for it to happen. Being a Teacher it was easy to come up with words to define his newest and biggest issue...Taboo...Restriction...unsavory...Banned...not to mention his very own Eww factor flowing through his mind. Yet the heart wants what the heart wants and when you add to that epic realization that your body betrays you at the mere thought of a forbidden temptation in one alluring captivating horny mate who is not only 18 and unfortunately sitting in his class room staring right back. Indecision and apprehension wars in Rowen whenever he is near or thinks of Wesley O'Conner one bratty intelligent geek who has no qualms about chasing and taking what he wants. Fate has a sense of humor on occasion and gives a shifter who has waited for more years than he cares to think about. Rowen knows he cannot and should not touch. Fate forgot to give that memo to one very sexy lusty Wesley who bombards Rowen at every turn with entertaining seduction; this wild one has a few cards unknowingly up his sleeve ... the mate bond and pull on his side quickly destroying any Fences Rowen dubiously built. The chemistry between them is explosive, watching their romance run hot an cold is breathtaking. Is it right or wrong, really does not matter because for these two "Life is perfectly imperfect" and sometimes that's what you get. Together they will have to find the strength in order to survive their own emotional baggage's a few bullies and an intolerant family, not to mention Wesley's graduation.

review of an independent miss

This is my second book that I have read by Ms. Becca St. John and still is really good! The first book I read was a Scottish historical romance and this was a regency but equally as wonderful. In fact this book is written in reverse it seems as opposed to both the male and female protagonist falling in love the male protagonist decides to marry first then make the female protagonist fall for him. Her stories are amazingly full with character rich players that you really can’t help but be entranced and pulled into the story as well! Now this story had no sex in it but that isn’t to say there is no heat, lots of kissing or strong sexual verbal bantering which left much up to the reader’s imagination. Sometimes it is nice to read books like this and it seems more authentic to the time period.
Lady Felicity a secret healer is happiest taking care of others and knowing more than the present day doctors but must hide her true self unfortunately Lord Richard Carmichael Marquis of Andover wants a quiet life and decides that Felicity is the perfect match for him asking her parents to a betrothal. What happens when Andover figures out the truth about Felicity and the possibility that Andover also could be in love with her.
What made this an interesting intriguing read was really the Lady Felicity. I loved her smarts, intelligence, quick wit, humor, caring compassionate nature. Felicity reminded me of a fictional version of Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell but being in the healthcare profession made me appreciate Felicity that much more! Even though Felicity was pretty unconventional she still follows the societal norms. I guess that is what really irritated me about Lord Andover that he was scared of her ability as a healer and that she actually knew more as a male. He didn’t really acknowledge Felicity or her knowledge of medicine I think the only things that Andover had going for him was his loyalty to his mother and that he was wanting to do right by Felicity except until Felicity helped him. I just loved the story so much that I also wanted Felicity’s brother Thomas to find someone that Lady Beatrice ends up with Lord Upton and Robbie finds someone nice. I do hope that Ms. St John will write more about these characters that I rated the story four stars can recommend it for any regency romance reader and will get more books from Ms. St John!

Stick with it...

I like both the H & h, but there was way too much time wasted getting to the point, so to speak. I found myself skimming through the last half of the book to kill the desire to abandon it altogether, which I never do. Glad I finished it though, the conclusion was ALMOST worth the wait.

I truly enjoyed the story

I truly enjoyed the story. Lady Felicity's character was wonderfully described. I can't help but wonder about my two favorite lines in the book:
1. Mourning the loss of a loved one held no clock, no sense of propriety. It hit when it chose to hit and damned be the man who scorned it.
2. They would expect her to be stoic, to carry on and ignore the loss of all that love.
People who grieve the loss of a loved one would appreciate those two lines.
But the book was not all about loss...I just liked the fact that the author covered grief well.
Good story. I hope we hear more about some of the other characters in the book...Rupert and Bea.

It's very disappointing to read a great authors work to only have to purchase multiple short "books" over and over. I love ONE great book but am now refusing to purchase excerpts. No more book series for me especially if you consider 28 pages a book.

Dang it!

Dang it, dang it, dang it!! I knew when I started the forth book I was falling into a series trap and I did! Now I have to wait for number five to drop! This series is fantastic, it has drama, it has heat, and it has hotter than hell sex! Charlotte thinks Noah is a killer, everything points to him but, I would be willing to bet he isn't! I would be willing to bet Charlotte finds out the hard way that Noah isn't but, in the mean time she will have betrayed his trust. She will try to walk away but, she won't be able to, she will find out he isn't a killer the hard way!

The series is pretty good but the books are really just chapters. Some of the shortest I've ever read. Now I'm feeling a little ripped off. Good storyline and I would recommend so far but the sex scenes are over before you know it and not very hot. Also the typos are building up.

Awesome addition to the series. Collins is my favorite!

Kendall Ryan books all have three things in common. First, her characters are hilarious. Second, they are hot! Third, I finish them all in one day. Every. Single. One. Her writing is witty, emotional, funny and unique. I love this series so hard. Colton (Filthy Beautiful Lies & Love), Pace (Filthy Beautiful Lust), and Collins, Filthy Beautiful Forever. Three brothers who hooked me from the very beginning and I have to admit, Collins has always been my favorite. Something about the way he was always brooding and sad. I knew there was a funny, silly guy in there under the sexy, stoic man. Collins has been with his model girlfriend for years, but in his head he knows he's not happy. One night, a blast from the past in the form of Mia, his best friend from childhood, all sass and curves shows up at his door. He's immediately brought back to the memories of their last night together before she moved away. Something about her just being there shakes up his life and he no longer knows what to do with himself. He has to decide if the promise they made to each other when they were ten is worth risking his stable life for. He can't seem to get her off his mind and he needs to make a decision before he goes insane. Can Collins finally admit to himself that Mia has been the missing piece to his heart for twenty years? Kendall Ryan has done it again! The Drake Boys will make you feel sooo very Filthy, yet Beautiful at the same time!

Well here we are… Filthy Beautiful Forever is the fourth book of the Filthy Beautiful Lies series with the ever so sexy Drake brothers! Starring the ever smoldering sexy Collins Drake, who is the oldest brother and for a guy who never actually really lived, he surely made up for it in this story!

Meet Collins Drake. He is just as successful as his brothers, perfect life, perfect job and the perfect girlfriend. Wait, stop the press, scratch that! There is nothing about plastic Tatianna that is perfect. She is a Super model and I call her super shallow selfish b**ch. Poor Collins knows something is missing from his almost perfect life, can he find it? Will he allow himself to find it?

Then you have Mia. Sweet lovable Mia was all of Collin’s firsts. As the saying goes, there really is nothing better than your first love. When things get turned upside down in Mia’s life, she makes a bold move and deposits herself right on Collins doorstep. Can she deposit herself back into his heart? Perhaps maybe she has always been there and someone is just in serious denial? Can a promise made when your ten years old between two friends stand the test of time?

“You’ve gotta stop thinking with your head so much.” Placing her palm over my heart, she leans close. “Everything you need to know is right here.”

I seriously FLOVED this entire series. Colton stole my heart and ran away with it. Pace grabbed it from Colton and took off like a bat out of hell, and Collins decided it was unfair to keep it all to himself and I was shared. Yep, totally OK with that concept! Colton & Sophie and Pace & Kylie made appearances in this book and I loved the way Kendall kept them present throughout this entire series. You will laugh, you will cry and you will fall in love with the Drake Brothers, no doubt about it. I had a huge pouty face boo boo lip going on knowing this was the end of the series, but what a fantastic way to end it. Kendall, thank you for giving us the Drake Boys and making us feel sooo very Filthy, yet Beautiful at the same time! 5 Stars ~ Shera

So I think it's official that this author just isn't an author that I will be buying from anymore because this book was boring to me. The first book I read from this author was "Filthy Beautiful Lies" and I didn't like that book either, it too was boring and didn't really have anything happening within the book. There wasn't a moment in the book that made my heart rate speed up or even had me on the edge of my seat or touched my heart. There wasn't any real any real conflict in this book to peak my excitement. There was an opportunity with Tatianna but that didn't even go anywhere I mean Collins didn't question her about what his brother saw. The book lacked strong characters and didn't have enough substance to draw me into this book to care about what happens. There wasn't a connection there from me the reader to the characters I didn't like Mia's personality and Collins' either for that matter, and this book fell flat to me and solidified that Kendall Ryan isn't the author for me.

An Absolute Must Read !!!

From the first line I was DONE sucked in and couldn't put it down !!! This story is beautiful, emotional ,HOT and with just the right amount of angst .
Deacon ( The Hitman) is a sexy , dirty mouthed MMA fighter and Frankie a beautiful dancer / HIS Princess .. Friends ever since they were young . They have a chemistry that can not be denied. A love that has always been there but can friends become lovers ?? I seriously can't believe it's Mandis debut novel and I'm not so patiently waiting for more ....

This book had me twisted and made my heart race from start to finish. I’ve never in all my years of reading, have met a fictional character like Deacon Love . He’s one of a kind. And he’s someone that loves fiercely; loves with everything that he has. Mind. Body. Soul.

Deacon is a beast. His weakness: Frankie and his temper. Frankie, the Princess, a total spitfire. Deep down in her soul she knows she loves Deacon but she’s afraid to put her heart on the line.

Deacon and Frankie have known one another since forever. Over the years they become inseparable causing Deacon's feelings for Frankie to cross the line of friendship. He's in love with her and has been since he can remember. Heartbreaking news has Deacon losing hope but never once does he give up on his Princess. 2 months later a rather traumatic event happens and he never leaves her side, not once.

When they finally do get together is like a blaze of fire. Passionate and beautiful. You'll drown in the angst, the feelings, the hurt, the sadness, and the heartbreak.Those were the moments that were earth shattering.

This story will leave you lusting for more, on the edge of your seat panting as you gasp for air. As a book, let alone an author's debut novel it was utterly brilliant and a breath of fresh air. Kudos, to you Mandi on writing one hell of a cliffy!!!! I cannot wait to continue reading the next books in this series and any other books she writes. Mandi, you’re stuck with me woman! LOL.

Not bad for a first book BUT...

Not bad for a first book BUT...it does end in a cliffhanger after it went in circles of drama for way too many chapters. Definitely could have been summed up in one book. Matter of fact, I just skimmed the last few chapters to find the cliffhanger. That being said, was it a good book? Sure, Deacon is your typical cocky foul mouth jerk that we all love. Frankie, the girl he's loved forever, that's the center of his world, and is the center of everyone's world, didn't have a lot of depth. I couldn't see WHY he loved, why everyone loved her SO MUCH, their "Princess". What made her so special? Will I read the next one, only if it's cheap, meaning 99 cents or less.

A series that just keeps getting better...

Stephen and Lucien are pulled into another most curious case. This one involves ghost sightings followed by bouts of madness and a rather painful route to blindness. And it becomes personal for them once Lucien's servant (and friend), Merrick, becomes the latest victim. The two must work together, along with Stephen's colleagues, to track down the cause and, hopefully, the cure...

This series: what can I say? Even in the shorts like this, K.J. Charles manages to bring this world to life in a way I think few authors can. I'm continually impressed with how this series has developed and the way each installment seems like a fresh and unique look at these two guys and the mysterious, magical, and frightening world in which they live.

A small glimpse of these two is better than many full-length published books

(Contains series spoilers!!!!) I have given this five stars, as I've given every book in this (too-short) series, I was extremely disappointed to realize this was not a full length novel. I devoured the trilogy and was so pleased to see another coming. Will we never see this brave, lusty couple in Shanghai? (I understand the difficulties of writing place and atmosphere, but to see Lord Crane in his element, his personal Shaman-lover by his side...swoons....I need a fainting couch.) Well, read this book, it's a very good story, as usual, and let's all beg (or cast a spell) for another installment in this series--possibly their journey to Shanghai?

Good but too short

I know it was a short story but it still seemed rushed and the mystery too easily solved. What is good is the romance between the two MC is still going strong with none if the anguish of doubt that is seen in many m/m romances. These guys are still two of my favorite characters and I do appreciate the short story in between a longer novel.

Formulaic but fun

I enjoyed the first book in the series better, though this book's protagonist is certainly very likable and I looked forward to seeing his story. But his love interest wasn't particularly interesting and it required quite a bit of suspension of disbelief to imagine that he was so madly besotted with her. It actually made the rest of the madcap plot, involving orgies and ritual human sacrifice, seem relatively realistic. Despite these flaws, it was overall an enjoyable read.

Formulaic and now just outright predictable

I read the first book and even though I don't care for the finger by finger intimate details of sex scenes the characters kept me intrigued so I bought this second book and again the characters are what kept me reading. The camaraderie between them is endearing and I truly wanted them each to succeed. That is my yardstick for well developing characters. The plot however is bizarre even for the 1800's and the writing, story progression, scene development and romance angle was completely formulaic to the first book. Just emphasis on different main characters but the same approach, scenarios and outcome. I think if this author puts into perspective the overly intense and detailed filler sex scenes and concentrated more on the plot and/or the paranormal aspect she might have a balanced, good long lasting series. It just seems like she's divided between romance and paranormal mystery so neither really gets the attention it deserves and the sex scenes are blown way out of proportion. It's not a good formula. The problem I've found with formulaic writing is that it always comes at the cost of the continuing development of characters and plot so that the end result is both are predictable and the book suffers in its entirety. Unless there's a new fresh approach, I won't be buying the next book in this series as it will no doubt be the same formula only now applied to the last two characters, Spencer and Larissa, and the plot and character development again will suffer. I'll read the reviews of the third book and hopefully there'll be a fresh approach as this series, if the formula writing is dropped, has great potential.

Interesting enough story, but...

I loved Michael's character from the first book so I couldn't wait to read this. And, in that, he did not disappoint. He's sexy hot and funny, being just enough of an ass to be interesting. My thoughts on the h were that she was likable enough.

My issues, in fact, were not with the story at all but rather with all the grammatical errors, misspelled words, poorly placed punctuation, and flat out mistakes. Thus the rating of 3 stars. It's unnerving to me to have trudge through those kinds of distractions and it makes it hard for me to fully enjoy the tale being told.

For example, in Chapter Seventeen, when Michael is unconscious and Spencer is telling Abby about Michael's past and the horrible incident that left him bereft and broken, he tells her that it was their close friend Briarleigh's Aunt Phyllis that has caused her husband to live out his life in guilt and pain; when, in fact, Phyllis is Briarleigh's mother; not his aunt. Briarleigh's Aunt's name is Eleanor.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed the storyline and look forward to maybe a 3rd book about Spencer.

The sex scenes were mildly graphic so for those of you who do not have a penchant for that when you read, this may not be the book for you.
