Love's Abundant Harvest

Love's Abundant Harvest, by Beth Shriver, was a wonderful story. There aren't too many stories on abuse in Amish families, as it is kept quiet within the family. My heart ached for Lucy as she dealt with daily life with Sam, who was just horrible to her. Thankfully she had her grandmother and her grandmother's friends to go live with when Sam died. They helped her get through the difficult time, and helped get Manny and Lucy together. Love's Abundant Harvest was a story of love, loss, and trusting God to get you through everything. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Love comes when not expected

Lucy's life has been miserable, painful and full of fear. Her husband keeps her secluded so she has no friends and although she has family, they aren't much better to her.
Through an unusual circumstance she meets her neighbor, who is a single man. He can tell right off that something in her life is very wrong, but she looks at the ground and does not talk. Because of a freak fire and explosion in the silo a few weeks later, her husband dies and her neighbor is able to get her out of the house which has caught on fire also.
She moves in with her granny and two old ladies. Manny, the neighbor starts taking care of her as much as possible. Of course he falls in love with her, but she is afraid that all men are like her dead husband and does not to marry again.
Seeing how the Lord can change her thinking and circumstances is quite lifting. Happiness can be found and prevail.
It tends to be a sad story most of the time, but there is a brighter ending so hang in there. It is very good and definitely worth reading.

Good Story

Love’s Abundant Harvest by Beth Shriver is the first book I’ve read by this author. It was a good book and I enjoyed it. I was quite intrigued after reading the back cover of the book, but when I thought that Lucy met Manny after her husband died I was mistaken. They knew each other before and became acquaintances if not friends. I didn’t like that part, because it would have been better if they met after and became friends.
Lucy had a hard life with her husband. He didn’t physically abuse her, but with words. She was beaten down with everything she said or did.
Lucy was pregnant before her husband died and Lucy didn’t want to raise the children alone. She was with her grandmother and sister and lots of friends, but she still felt alone.
Lucy and Manny become more than friends, but Lucy has twins and then the problems start. Will she make it or will trouble keep happening?
I enjoyed this book and recommend it.
