She's addicted to sex. He's addicted to booze... the only way out is rock bottom.
No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway's biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups, and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.
Loren Hale's best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they've pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They've mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.
But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.
Their real vice may be each other.

Sexy, emotional, fast-paced NA romance!
By Literary Meanderings
Best friends Lily and Loren enjoy a life of luxury thanks to their rich parents, but hidden underneath the sparkling exterior, they each struggle with an addiction.
Lily has a sex addiction. One night stands, excessive amounts of porn, masturbation, etc. She thinks about sex almost every second of the day.
Loren's addiction is a more common one: alcohol. He drinks all day and all night. The are stashes upon stashes of liquor in their shared apartment.
To keep their addictions hidden from their families, to avoid scandal, and avoid loss of trust funds, they've pretended to be a couple for years.
"[...] we lied for each other and hid our infidelities, playing the role of doting boyfriend and girlfriend. The deeper we sink, the harder it is to crawl out. I fear the moment where neither of us can breathe again--when someone discovers our secrets. At any moment, everything can crumble beneath us."
They help each other hide, cover-up, and feed their addictions. They enable one another only because if one tells the other to stop, they may be faced with giving up their own addiction in the process.
So they continue on a downward spiral of addiction, hidden feelings, and broken relationships.

I am going to preface my review with this tidbit from the author's acknowledgement page:
"It's important that as female readers, as women, we empower each other. Sex addiction for women is a tricky subject. There's a fine line between being a destructive sex addict and merely exploring sexuality. By being aware of that line, we can support other females in their sexuality, not shame them. We're all sisters, [...] start celebrating that bond we all inherently share."
Those words match my thoughts exactly, and I applaud these lovely authors for their opinion and having the guts to say it out loud and express it with their stories. I am very much against "slut-shaming" (and the word "slut" in general, really) and putting down women who wish to explore their sexuality. I hate the double-standards put out there and though it is something I doubt will ever go away, it's not something I have to agree with or support. Women can enjoy sex just as much as men, and they can also, like men, take it too far. Such as the case of our protagonist, Lily.
To make this clear: Lily doesn't live a life of fun sex. She needsit. It's a mental and physical addiction. She hates herself for it at times and feels ashamed and embarrassed. Her addiction controls every aspect of her life, major and minor. She can't go more than a handful of hours without a fix, and this has ruined her family life and left her with no friends except Loren.
Loren, also an addict. Alcoholism. This is a tough subject for me. I have an alcoholic parent and it was difficult to separate my personal life and opinions from the book. I had the biggest annoyance with Loren. Drunk all the time, passing out every night, choosing alcohol over Lily, etc. I know they say alcoholism is a disease, but I have trouble wrapping my head around that. I feel like it is a choice and once made, hard to get out of. You can't be an alcoholic if you never choose to take a drink, right? Is crack addiction a disease as well? What about heroine? Meth? I mean, this is just my personal opinion. I admit that I may be a bit cynical about it due to my own experiences, but my point is that I had trouble liking Loren because of his choices.
Now Lily, on the other hand, I did feel connected to. I was much more able to sympathize and empathize with her. She narrates, and I really enjoyed reading from her POV. She has loved Loren for a long time, and when the two finally decide to try a realrelationship, I feel that she gives it her all while Loren does not. During their relationship, Lily begins the first stages of battling her addiction. She wants to stay loyal to Loren, so having sex with strangers is a no-no. If Loren denies her (which he does), she is forced to relieve herself, which is a watered-down version of what she really needs.
The romance was very angst-ridden and intense. It's clear these two love each other, but neither one is truly willing to give up what they need and want for the other. It hurt me emotionally to see it happening. I felt so very connected to these characters and their personal struggles (more so Lily than Loren though). I really feel that the authors did an amazing job in making them seem real and relatable even with their respective addictions making them seem like less-than-savory individuals. Loren is sexy and sensitive. He is a caring friend and loyal son. Lily is quirky and funny. She's smart and sociable. They both have things going for them, but the ball-and-chain of addiction forever holds them back from reaching their potential (both together and separately). Both characters were very well written and so were their background stories.
There are some other elements to the plot than just the romance and addiction. I won't spoil it, but it's a twist of sorts, and I think it added a lot to the story. I also really enjoyed some of the people introduced later on in the boon such as Connor. Ohhhh, Connor. Cocky, snarky, hilarious Connor! Connor starts out as Lily's tutor, but ends up a very close friend for both she and Loren. I honestly LOVE this guy. I found myself wishing he was Lily's love interest instead of Loren. I really can't wait for more of this guy in the upcoming installment. :)
Overall, I enjoyed this book a great deal. Loren pissed me off a bit, but hey, no one is perfect. I think the characters were multidimensional and very well written. I feel they were easy to connect with and to understand. I fell absolutely in love with Connor and Ryke, the only two guys who break into the mess that is Lily and Loren's fake relationship and befriend the broken-souled couple.
This book is filled with crude humor and I loved it! It starts out on the lighter side, but darkens quickly and becomes very intense. It does end on a positive note, though very much a cliffhanger.
Addicted to You is the story of two college students each suffering their own addiction while enabling the other to do the same. They journey through love and friendship together. They hit rock bottom together, and with the help of new friends, decide maybe they need help. I recommend this book for fans of Jamie McGuire's Beautiful Disaster as it's packed with intensity and unconventional, dark relationships.
Definitely not suitable for readers under 18 years of age!

A hot mess, and I loved it.
By Jennifer @ Bad Bird Reads
At A Glance
Addicted To You is unlike any book I have ever read. I'm still in awe. This book is like a hot mess, but in good way.
The Good
I don't even know were to begin. This book is a mind%$#@ if I ever seen one. First of all, you would never guess that Addicted To You is written by two sisters. Everything flowed together seamlessly. I easily got emotionally invested in the characters. Every chapter left me feeling raw and well used. I didn't want it to end.
I just love college reads. I love the dynamics of these adults, who are still kids in a lot of ways, freshly out on their own doing crazy stuff but are still trying to impress mommy and daddy. This book is not only about addictions (sexual addiction and alcoholism), it's also about family problems and struggles. I was surprised by how many real world problems were covered in this book.
Lily has needed sexual gratification since the age of 13. She's not sure why she's like this but all she knows is she feels physical pain when she doesn't have sex at least once a day. But Lily is also a very shy, nervous, and introverted person. She is deathly afraid her family will find out about her so she keeps them at a distance. The only person she has to fall back on is Lo (Loren). With his own secret to keep, he's the only person she can trust. But when she breaks her own rules and has sex with Lo, things start getting crazy. Lo and Lily's relationship gets both better and worse as they try to make it as a couple. They feed each other's addictions while keeping each other from going too far. I really felt bad for Lily because it was obvious she couldn't control her addiction. Seeing a sexual addiction through her eyes really made me realize how horrible it would be to be in her position. Having to have sex so often is debilitating and super dangerous. I think she handles it the best she can but it's obvious she needs outside help.
Lo's addiction is worse, but just by a little. Lo's is literally drinking himself to death. His father can't know though because Lo would lose his inheritance. His father won't take anything other than perfection. So Lo keeps Lily as his fake girlfriend to keep people from asking questions. Lo helps Lily with her addiction so that she will always be his designated driver. However, it's obvious watching Lily sleep with all these guys is tearing Lo apart. But when Lo finally snags Lily for himself, he starts to ruin everything with his drinking. He starts making bad decisions, decisions that lead Lily into danger. Lo's family situation is so sad and complicated I had no problem seeing why he chose to drink so much. My heart still goes out to him, and I'm very excited with the direction his character is going.
The side characters were amazing in Addicted To You. Rose, Ryke, and Conner were all complex characters with flaws of their own. Their support of Lo and Lily was so touching. They practiced tough love, which is what Lo and Lily needed.
Feels. So much feels. This book will leave you emotionally drained. It's was a rollercoaster of goods, bads, and the in-betweens. Addicted To You will open your eyes to addiction and make you really think about what some people go through every day of their lives. This is going to be an amazing series. These sister authors know how to write and keep you interested to the very end.
The Bad
Dang you, cliffhanger!!!!
I have to say, cheering for this couple was hard sometimes. I was so conflicted because they really were horrible for each other, them covering up and feeding their addictions is going to get one or both of them killed. It was like watching a car crash in slow motion.
I wish more was done for Lily. I feel like Lo is getting the help he needs but Lily is left to tough it out.
The Snuggly
Lilly and Lo have one of the most messed up relationships ever. They are so unhealthy for each other it's not even real. But their effedupness was fascinating to watch. I do believe they love each other in their own way and that there is hope for them.
With Lily having a sexual addiction, I expected more raunchy sex scenes. Don't get me wrong, we get some steamy sex scenes but not as sexy/scary as I thought they were going to be.
Final Thoughts
This book could easily be a 5 starer. There was technically nothing wrong with it, just personal preferences and annoyance got in the way of the last star. But I would recommend this book to everyone. Not everyone will like it with its emotional and rough subject matter, but I think most people will see the beauty in Lily and Lo's effed-up relationship. Highly recommended.
Quotes
"I'll always be yours. No distance or time apart will change that, Lily."
My body aches. I wish I had the fire in my heart to stand up, to walk over to him. To put my hands on his chest and wrap a leg around his waist, straddling him on the gym bench seat. His breath falls short and he asks, "Lily?" But he doesn't stop me. He lets me lean in, my hips sinking into his. I kiss the base of his neck while his restraint lessens, and he groans, throatily telling me to meet him in the locker room.
A damp towel hits my face, and I jolt back to the living. Lo raises his eyes accusingly. "Dream of me?"
My arms flush. "Maybe." Hopefully I'm only transparent with Lo.
"You're supposed to say yes." His eyes twinkle in amusement.
"Yes," I say with a smile. "Can we do it now?"
Lo swoops in behind me, his arms flying around my waist. He sets his chin on my shoulder, hunching over a little to counter my short height with his tall. "He better have been worth it," Lo whispers, his hot breath tickling my neck.
"Worth what?" My heart lodges in my throat; his closeness confuses and tempts me. I never know where Lo's true intentions lie. He guides me forward as we walk, my back still pressed against his chest. I can barely lift up a foot, let alone think straight. "Your first walk of shame in a frat house. How'd that feel?"
"Shameful."
He plants a light kiss on my head and disentangles from me, walking ahead. "Pick it up, Calloway. I left my drink in the car."

Realistic, moving, and emotionally gripping--it set a whole new bar for NA Contemporary Romance
By R. Campbell
There comes a sad time in an avid reader's life when books and story lines begin to feel the same. The protagonists, the romance, the plot and delivery, even the writing, are shades and reflections of what you've read before. It's disheartening and frustrating, yet you can't stop from picking up the next book because you're addicted and searching for more words, more depth, something to fill an emptiness or scratch that good story-itch.
Addicted to You filled every hole, scratched every surface, and left me breathless while imprinting itself deep within.
The subject matters alone are unique. Lily is a sex addict, and Loren is a functioning alcoholic. Lily is past promiscuity. Without sex or gratification, she can't think or function normally. Sexual activity is not a craving or a replacement for her, but a driving need. Loren drinks so much consistently and from such a young age that he doesn't slur or seem drunk; he simply passes out when his body momentarily shuts down because it can't handle any more toxic substance from all day bingeing.
Both subject matters can hard to believe and understand in the first place, but female sex addicts are unheard of -- more precisely, aren't spoken of, confronted, or even accepted. The female is automatically termed a slut, but it can be and lead to much deeper, and the authors captured that line without making me think badly of Lily. Okay, not too badly of Lily. There were times I wanted to scream at her to not do it, but more often than not, I sympathized with her. I felt that she truly could't help herself. She didn't even think she needed to because she didn't believe she was hurting anyone.
And that's the crux, for all addictions and in Addicted to You. Lily and Loren have hidden their addictions from everyone but each other. Since they live together as a supposed couple, no one suspects. They help each other hide, not physically hurting anyone but enabling by "protecting" one another's secrets.
When they actually do become a couple, the inner and outer battles begin. With a new dynamic between them, Lily and Loren become more aware of hurting one another and they're faced with many ugly truths. I can't express how raw and painful it was to watch--read (I felt as if I was in every scene). The foundation, the essence, of their relationship was beautiful and poignant but also tragic. Together they can be ideal and essentially perfect. As individuals, they are so flawed yet endearing that I wanted to shake then hug them while begging them to stop.
There were heart-warming and better moments too, though. The first real friends Lily and Loren made offered a little comic relief, intrigue, and mystery. I also loved Lily's family; they're close, genuine, and good. Although I did guess a bit of a secondary character's motive, my jaw and gut dropped when the entire background story was revealed. I died then and twice again at the end of the book. Thank God there's a book two, as well as a novella releasing before that.
There is a cliffhanger, but it's one I quickly became okay with. I didn't realize the book was part of a series until after I finished it, so I had assumed the ending was an open one in which you form your own opinion, dream of what could be, and hope for the best. I did and still am!
The authors did such amazing job with every aspect of this book. They authentically portrayed the addictions and captured the ugly emotions that came with them. I wasn't expecting such an intense read--the authors took the premise and characters much further than I anticipated, for which I'm glad. Addiction, of any kind, shouldn't be taken lightly, and it isn't sexy or pretty.
I wish I could say I'd recommend Addicted to You to every and anyone, but I can't. It may not be for the faint of heart or readers who get easily uncomfortable, hate awkward situations, or go in hating any facet of addictions, destructive behavior, and unashamed sex.
But if you're open to any of that and are looking for a well-written story that's realistic, moving, and emotionally gripping, with characters and plot that are a different typeset, I strongly suggest you read Addicted to You. It set a whole new bar for NA Contemporary Romance on all my shelves.

FAVORITE LINES (out of many):
"Being in a real relationship was supposed to fix the kinks in our lives. It should've made our problems easier. We no longer have to pretend. We can be ourselves. We're free from one life. Isn't this the part where our love overcomes our addictions? Where our problems magically solve from a kiss and a promise?"
