really enjoyed the very first book by this author

really enjoyed the very first book by this author, the missing daughter one, the rest were not quite as good, but I did enjoy the series. rather reminded me, in a very loose way, of the JB Robb series, the way this author was trying to model her main characters. again very loosely...

Tons of sex, very little action, mediocre writing

All books still need minor editing. Denoting passage of time wasn’t handled very well most of the time. Every book flows into the subsequent stories, so if this isn’t read in anthology form, then yes, they must be read in numerical order. Note: there are assassins, but no shifters whatsoever until Book 3. And why do the shifters’ mates have to be near death and turned? Can they just not have a human mate? Also, except for Troy, who had the most realistic reaction, everyone who found out about the werewolves was excruciatingly calm. In one story, Troy asked James where he worked, but several times before and after that, it said that James worked for Homeland Security. Biggest question: some of the wolves were made, but Wayne was created. Being that “make” and “create” are literally synonyms, I think there should’ve been a better explanation of the difference other than the fact that Wayne was just really powerful.

Book 1: A Marked Man – Mateo and Riley’s story – 3 stars; Book 2: Alaska, with Love – Josh and Mark’s story – 3 stars

Book 3: By The Light of the Moon – 2 stars. Sam and Dakota’s story. 70% sex, 30% story. Stories that have more sex than plot are tedious, IMO. And some of the facts kept getting a bit muddled.

Book 4: Half-Moon Rising – Troy & Sawyer – 2.5 stars.

Book 5: Best Laid Plans – 2.5 stars. Xander/Jagger and Grayson/Taylor. Grayson & Xander capitulated way too easily. Pheromones and mates, be d*mned. Any angst, drama or issues were pretty much done away with within a page or two. Also, there was one scene where a big group of the wolves were standing around talking, and then it morphs into a sex scene with no segue. Riley made a comment, Taylor responded, Grayson asked Taylor a question, and then Taylor was licking him. What?

Book 6: For the Love of Caden – Maybe the best story here. 4 stars. I had several questions, though. When they gave Caden morphine in the ambulance without authorization, why was that even okay, much less a laughing matter? Why didn’t Kellan’s eyes and teeth change the first time he & Caden had sex like everyone else? I figured out that Evangeline never was Caden’s assistant, but his personal physician, but why have the reader be forced to figure that out later? It was told in the 3rd person POV, after all. Near the end, it was said that James & Derek needed to know the secret because Sam and Troy still worked for them. What about Josh and Mateo? I thought their missions only decreased, not taken away entirely. When Wyatt went away to school, alone, how old was he exactly? It said that he couldn’t meet Preston until he was of age. Grayson met Taylor at 18. So did Wyatt go to a boarding school, and what convinced him he’d find his mate there? And why, for the love of Pete, couldn’t they just tell him that he wasn’t old enough to mate, rather than spend the majority of his life lying?

I have read each book individually and basically bought the set to support the author. I love the series so much it's great having the first few in one spot to re-read anytime I want. The books are centered around a core group of assassins working for General Derek Jacobs. Each have are military and deadly trained; they call themselves the Skullblasters. #1 Starts with Mateo Esposito an assassin and his mark Riley. Mateo follows his gut and just cannot follow through with orders leading to one long journey of someone trying to kill them both. Love hits them both and Riley seeps into the hearts of everyone. #2 Assassin Josh Montgomery is sent on a mission and comes out having rescued a man. All his life he has loved women until Mark. Mark Patterson is a doctor for Doctor's without Borders when he was kidnapped and forced to deal drugs and kept prisoner. Can the two overcome obstacles and mentally walls and find love for each other. #3 Sam Waters is in Denali after a mission. Dakota Cadotte is kicked out of his pack for being gay. Trouble lurks in the shadows can these two emerge together and find their path to true love? #4 Troy Bishop grew up with Sawyer Quinton but did not know he was a shifter. How will he react? Will he be able to love him anyway? Will someone step in their path to love? #5 Grayson and Xander Quinton are shifter who have saved themselves for their mates. Taylor and Jagger Drake have always been with women and had a homophobic father. Can these four find the path to love? Will Drake's father stand in their way? #6 Caden Fournier is a wealthy man who never knows when someone will love him just for him. Kellan Brady is a paramedic and shifter and realizes that Caden is his mate immediately. He could care less about Caden's money and just wants the man. Can the two find a way to be with one another?

These are only brief descriptions and really do no justice to the stories. I strongly recommend starting with this set if you haven't yet read the series. It's worth the cost.

Among the good points were variations of story line and background for ...

For me, this series of books was one of those that I can neither wholeheartedly praise nor absolutely condemn. Among the good points were variations of story line and background for the characters. There were some instances when I was moved emotionally by certain circumstances or situations, but I'm afraid I found more things to dislike than like.

Each and every character was more beautiful than the last and were praised over and over again for being so. There wasn't a scar, a wart or a mole to be found in this parade of absolutely gorgeous men. The condition known as being "rock hard" was constant, necessitating the sex scenes be frequent. Too frequent, in my opinion, leaving little room for story development. The author's use of contractions was almost non existent making the dialog sound stilted and as though English was perhaps a second language to those speaking rather than it being their native tongue as it was supposed to be. And finally, every couple's ultimate goal was to get married and have children... via surrogate, of course. Why did every one of these gay couples have their relationships steered along such a blatantly heterosexual path? It was repetitious and unrealistic.

If possible I would have rated this set of stories at 2.5 stars. 2 means "I don't like it" which wasn't completely true and 3 means "It's okay." Again, not completely true. I believe this author is capable of writing a better story. I definitely saw evidence of it and would like to read such a story from her should she hopefully live up to her potential.

Love's Abundant Harvest

Love's Abundant Harvest, by Beth Shriver, was a wonderful story. There aren't too many stories on abuse in Amish families, as it is kept quiet within the family. My heart ached for Lucy as she dealt with daily life with Sam, who was just horrible to her. Thankfully she had her grandmother and her grandmother's friends to go live with when Sam died. They helped her get through the difficult time, and helped get Manny and Lucy together. Love's Abundant Harvest was a story of love, loss, and trusting God to get you through everything. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Lucy's life has been miserable, painful and full of fear. Her husband keeps her secluded so she has no friends and although she has family, they aren't much better to her.

Through an unusual circumstance she meets her neighbor, who is a single man. He can tell right off that something in her life is very wrong, but she looks at the ground and does not talk. Because of a freak fire and explosion in the silo a few weeks later, her husband dies and her neighbor is able to get her out of the house which has caught on fire also.

She moves in with her granny and two old ladies. Manny, the neighbor starts taking care of her as much as possible. Of course he falls in love with her, but she is afraid that all men are like her dead husband and does not to marry again.

Seeing how the Lord can change her thinking and circumstances is quite lifting. Happiness can be found and prevail.

It tends to be a sad story most of the time, but there is a brighter ending so hang in there. It is very good and definitely worth reading.

Good Story

Love’s Abundant Harvest by Beth Shriver is the first book I’ve read by this author. It was a good book and I enjoyed it. I was quite intrigued after reading the back cover of the book, but when I thought that Lucy met Manny after her husband died I was mistaken. They knew each other before and became acquaintances if not friends. I didn’t like that part, because it would have been better if they met after and became friends.
Lucy had a hard life with her husband. He didn’t physically abuse her, but with words. She was beaten down with everything she said or did.
Lucy was pregnant before her husband died and Lucy didn’t want to raise the children alone. She was with her grandmother and sister and lots of friends, but she still felt alone.
Lucy and Manny become more than friends, but Lucy has twins and then the problems start. Will she make it or will trouble keep happening?
I enjoyed this book and recommend it.

Author: Wowza! I absolutely love it! Stepmother Forbidden is the second release in the Stepbrother, Where Art Thou Series by Aya Fukunishi and it is awesome! Oh my! How deliciously sinful and delightfully wicked! Fukunishi has once again demonstrated her unique style and delivered yet another example of her amazing talent! Ryan is filthy rich, devastatingly handsome, wonderfully athletic and arrogantly privileged and can have any girl he chooses and it seems he chooses them all and has them all. All except Sophia. The lovely Sophia is shy and intelligent but simply cannot stand Ryan and is determined to hate him and stay as far away from him as possible. And does a really great job of hating him for almost two years until her widowed Mother, Isabel, drops a bombshell - she's marrying Ryan's Dad, Jack, the wealthy millionaire real estate mogul! What? But we all know there is a very find line between hate and love! But does Sophia? Oh my goodness! This installment continues with Sophia's struggle to come to terms with her Mother's upcoming marriage and her growing feelings for her soon to be stepbrother, Ryan. Will true love find its path to bloom and somehow thrive under the harsh stigma imposed by society's unacceptable socialisms? You have to read the story to see what happens! But I will say this - it's good, very very good! The story is well crafted, exciting, compelling, enticing, sweet, romantic and sexy. The dialog is smart, well executed and engaging. And my favorite part of every Fukunishi story is always the captivating and engaging cast of characters. Fukunishi skillfully combines each of these elements to craft a beautifully written stepbrother romance that's always arousing, seductive and delightfully entertaining read! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!

One word: Robbie. You'll HATE Robbie. Make sure you have a cushion to punch when you reach the bar scene in the middle of the book. If Ryan hadn't been there to save the day... *punches cushion again, then swoons at the thought of Ryan*.

I loved catching up with these four couples.

My Forever Valentine is book five in the Due South series by Tracey Alvarez. This book was generously provided to me by the author for an honest review.

It’s Valentine’s Day. So how are our four favorite couples going to spend this special day? Before you read this book, you will need to have read the previous books in this series since this is sort of an update on each couple that we have grown to love and how they are spending their Valentine’s Day.

Del and his father, Bill, have successfully come through surgery. But it is Del and Shaye’s first Valentine’s Day as a couple and Del is still in the hospital. Shaye finds a very special and fun way to make this a very memorable day for the both of them.

Piper and West are our only married couple of the group. Piper has an elaborate meal planned to surprise West with but we know that Piper can’t cook. This does turn out to be the very best of Valentine’s Day for them, though.

Carly and Kip are our newest couple. Kip has decided that he wants to take Carly camping for Valentine’s Day. He wants this to be special. But does any camping trip ever go as planned? This one sure didn’t.

Kezia and Ben are such a cute couple. Ben is so clueless about just about everything. Everything except that he is the luckiest man alive to have Kezia in his life. That still doesn’t keep him from forgetting that it is Valentine’s Day until the last minute.

These are four very short stories that are sure to melt your heart. I have grown to love all four of these couples and it was so wonderful to get this little update of their lives together.

Valentine's Day Hijinx to make your day - any day!

Okay, so I've been naughty and haven't read the Due South books in order like I was supposed to. If fact, there's a book or two I haven't read at all yet, but I am definitely going to - and SOON! Yes, these four couples in these stories are part of a group of good friends that hang out together on this small island off New Zealand, and they all know each other well. And if you haven't read the previous books, you're going to be a bit confused about who all these quirky young people are, and these stories may be a little bit of a spoiler to their individual stories, each of which is the subject of a separate book.
But if you a sitting there all alone (or even not), on Valentine's Day and want to read some short, cute, and funny romantic Valentine's stories, all of which will take only a short time, this is the book for you! There are FOUR stories here, each approximately only 15 pages each. Yet each is a fun, sweet read. To try to cut back on **POSSIBLE SPOILERS**, you will read about, in no particular order, a maybe unplanned possible pregnancy - or maybe not, somebody might or might not be proposed to, someone might enjoy playing naughty nurse, and there may or may not even be a surprise wedding thrown into the mix. Then again I might be making this whole thing up. But that would make this a pretty crappy review, wouldn't it? Hmmm. Wouldn't want to do that.
Well, some or all of those things may happen in the span of a short 63 pages, to various people. How much more romance do you want in a short Valentine's Day read? Or any day you're in the mood for some quick, hot, fun romance? These are so well written, you won't be able to resist a smile, or two, or three, or four. A great valentine recipe guaranteed to please!

Whet your appetite with a teasing glimpse into the lives of our favourite couples on Stewart Island!

This is such a teasing and sweet glimpse into the futures of the lives of our favourite couples from books 1 to 4 in the Due South series. The books are well written, unsurprisingly, and give just enough to whet your appetite without going too far. A word of warning, you do have to have read the books for each couple to fully understand these four short stories. However, if you haven’t, they are definitely small bite-size teases that will encourage you to read each couple’s books (warning they do contain spoilers on outcomes of stories, especially in Shaye and Del’s case).

I won’t say too much about the story but Shaye’s was the most shocking, I think, because who would of thought that our sweet and innocent little Shaye could get up to such ninja style antiques! Ben and Kezia’s story twist I didn’t see coming and Kip and Carly’s story was so funny with the situation they ended up in; definitely not the most romantic place but so perfect and sweet in the end. My favourite, overall, has to be Piper and West’s story but that is personal preference as they were the first couple I read about and made me fall in love with this Due South series. Also, these mini stories answer questions you didn’t realise in some ways were still lingering on from each couple’s books in some ways, especially Shaye and Del’s and Ben and Kezia’s.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this short book, as with all others in this series so far, and can’t wait to read more from Stewart Island.

What The...?!

The story and writing was good and if the story had been whole, I would have given the book a four star rating. Maybe I should not complain when something is free but I would not have wasted my time on reading only about a quarter of a story. If something is just a teaser, it should be clearly stated as such.

I loved the characters, plot, ups and downs, twists and turns, and the range of emotions, I would recommend this book, I just wish it did not end in a cliff hanger.

A must read

OMG where should I start. I don't want to give away any spoilers just in case you haven't read some of the other Iron Tornadoes books, but let's just say things are getting interesting for more than just the main couple. This book centers around Sally and Slider. Sally has been pining over Slider for sometime, but Slider feels that he is not really good enough for her and keeps her in the "friend" category. Suffice it to say, Sally is able to make Slider jealous and well that leads to the rest of the story. The book has it all, romance, mystery and drama. It is an action packed read that will grab and keep your attention to the end. Oh and the ending. Man I can't wait until the next book. I'm crossing my fingers about who it will center around.

Now you don't need to necessarily have read all of the other books in the series to enjoy this one. But it is a very well written and exciting series. So you won't be wasting your time or money.

Slider has been undercover for several years in the Category Five Knights MC. Now that the Southern White Wizards have been stopped he is a crossroads of what to do. How can he tell his fellow MC members that he's actually a cop? He believes he isn't a good man.

Sally has been in love with Slider for a while. No matter how hard she tries to make him see her as more than an employee he rebuffs every attempt. She just doesn't understand why.

Just when things seem like they are headed in the right direction Sally is placed in danger. Slider will do anything he can to protect her. Even if it means blowing his cover.

I love this series. Its always fast paced, with lots of action. The emotions come through as your reading. You feel the characters sadness, anger, happiness, and love. I really like that we get small glimpses of characters from previous stories in this series.

Watch Out! This sexy read will scourch you!

Olivia never lets me down! I really enjoyed reading about Sally and Slider. Reading about the other characters was nice too. Like old friends coming back together. I couldn't put it down!
The feelings that Sally and Slider had for each other while everyone else knew what was going on ,what they thought were unrequited love had me yearning for them to get together already!
It is a fast paced love story with sexy hot scenes that will scourch you! Watch out! Its a sexy hot and steamy romance that will capture your heart and attention as well as leave you wanting for more. Can hardly wait to read tge next one in this Series.
Five stars all the way! Put it on yoir TBR as a must read...like now!
Slider will make you wish he was sliding into you!
