I wouldn't have started the series if I would have known it may not be finished.

I read that L. R. Olson only continued stories if you write a review. That is weird to me. I don't usually write reviews. I think if an author loves writing, the story would have to come out no matter how many reviews they received. I would like to know what happens to this family. If that strokes your ego enough, you should finish the series.

I have had the honor of reading every single book that Bella Forrest has written and am pleased to say that she definitely knows how to capture her readers attention. Her books are so amazing and full of love and adventure and of course let's not for get a little drama and situations that will literally leaving you holding your breath and begging for the next book to hurry up and be released! I urge everyone to read the "A Shade of Vampire" series as well as the "A Shade of Kiev" trilogy and also her two book series "Beautiful Monsters". All her books will leave you begging for more!

I could read this series forever...

I knew all along Kiev could be a better person and I'm so happy that he and Mona get their happy ending! I can't wait for them to return Anna to The Shade. I really hope A Shade of Vampire 9 isn't the last book in that series. I just can't get enough of these characters! A must read series and spin off series!

Fell in love again

As much as I hate to admit it, I fell for Rhys. After Mona took the potion to erase her memories of Kiev, he showed her what seemed to be sincere love. That's when I fell. I get so drawn into these books that it doesn't seem like a book, it's my reality. Bella is a great writer and I hope there's many more to come.

Love the series, but not this story

I'm really conflicted about this book although I really like the series. I love the idea of the brothers and finding their soulmates, but does anyone see a pattern with the heroines. Maybe I'm wrong and looking at it from the wrong point of view, and if I am, that's ok, I can take it. It just seems to me that these women are a little selfish and Maggie takes the cake. This is probably going to seem like a negative review, its not, its more the way I am reacting to the character. I think the author is very well written and I will keep reading the series. So, I am not being negative about her or her work. But, this character really drove me crazy. Crazy enough that I am leaving a review about her. Usually, if I don't like a book or a character, I don't review. Again, this is just my pov, but this is how I see it. I get the idea that Maggie has baggage, who doesn't, but she seems very selfish. Michael seems like a gift from God to any woman and while I can see she cares for him, she just isn't honest with him. First, she doesn't tell him she is a virgin. I don't know, but I think that might have been some pertinent information. Next, she lies to him repeatedly about her medical condition. And at the wedding, she knows how bad she is getting, but she still keeps it to herself, not to mention she mixes pain pills and alcohol. I guess that can be excused because she wasn't extremely cognizant. I understand that she has a terrible fear of the hospital, but hello, she is in a relationship with a dr. Why not be a grownup and discuss her fears with him. Instead, he is made to be scared out of his mind with the emergency surgery she had, which includes a double hematoma. Instead of appreciating that he saved her life, she acts like a spoiled brat and shuts him out. She says he took away her choices, but actually she took his away by not being honest about her condition. He would not have had to do what he did if he knew in the beginning what her actual condition was. Not to mention, she hid her pregnancy from him. If she hadn't had the dream about him, would she have ever told him? Her only redeeming quality is she goes to him when he really needs her. Though she makes sure to berate him for "taking away her choices" in the hospital. ***eye roll***. If she had been honest with him, that wouldn't have happened. I guess the ultimate kicker for me is that she not only hid the pregnancy, but goes and has tests to see if there is something wrong with the child because of the anesthesia from the surgery. Um, newsflash honey, people have had surgery while they are pregnant. If she had gotten bad results, would she have told him? After all she has done, he has to see the first picture of his son through a back way. I'm probably extra sensitive about the pregnancy thing because of some problems in that area. All I know is I would have never taken away my husband's chance to see his son. I don't know, maybe I'm being too hard on her, but I don't think someone who is supposed to be so "independent" and grown up behaves this way. Of course, he is a saint and never questions on her anything that she does. Finally, she breaks off the engagement instead of accepting help. Does she ever think of anyone but herself? I can see this might be a skewed outlook on keeping the debt from falling on him, but obviously his family has resources that could have helped. I don't just mean money, but like what they did at the city meeting. Again, she doesn't discuss anything with him, just throws down an ultimatum instead of discussing it with him.This girl really needs to learn how to communicate and that a relationship is a two way street. And he never gets upset one time in the story. None of them do. Just because she bakes well doesn't make her some wonderful person. If someone treated my brother the way she did, I wouldn't have been so accepting. I really like Abbie Zanders and her work, but this story not so much. Regardless, I will definitely be reading the rest of the series. Sorry, if this has seemed all negative, but it just really got on my nerves with the way this girl behaved. On the positive side, the author is so good that she actually got me to get up at 8:00 AM to post this review, so she obviously knows how to make you care about the characters and get into the story. :)

just Couldn't Like Maggie

I really tried to like this book but the character Maggie was unlikeable and drove me crazy. I stopped reading it so many times then came back and tried again. The reviewer who posted a 3 star review on Jan. 11 said everything I felt. Michael was so sweet to her and she threw back his efforts to save her life in his face, was not open and honest with him, and was deceptive over and over. I think this was a good book except for Maggie. She wipl make his life miserable.

That one book in the series...

There's always one. You know what I mean. That one book in the series that just isn't your favorite. You want to love it, but you just can't. This was it for me. It can only go up from here.

The Good:
+ I loved Michael. He was a great guy. Not only was he a sexy doctor (yes please!) But he was a sweet thoughtful guy, too.
+ I liked the whole organic farm angle.

The Bad:
- I did not enjoy the recycling of the hidden pregnancy storyline.
- I didn't like how Maggie's ex fiance randomly acted like a nice guy, and was worried about her at the end. He was trying to ruin her then he's congratulating her at her wedding?
- I didn't like the whole random psychic episode they experienced together. It was weird. I love me some books about paranormal events/abilities, but this was just kind of like an afterthought.

The Ugly:
-- I hate saying this, but I really didn't like Maggie. She kept pissing me off. A lot. The whole won't go to the hospital, even though I know that there is something seriously wrong with me thing reeeeealy made me mad.
-- I really didn't like that she randomly went and got a tattoo... also kind of weird for her character.

Original doesn't mean good

This was a complete departure from the shifter PNR I've previously read. Basically, these are insular, racist, backwoods redneck shifters. They shift into any animals they choose. They scoff at the notion of fated mates. There's a death (murder?) that the widow didn't bother seeking details or justice for. There's a kidnapping by prejudiced shifters to protect the target of their prejudice. There are illogical plot devices and painful dialogue and subpar editing. I gave two stars just for originality.

LOVED IT!!!! Now Thats How you start a Series!!!!!!

Immediately I'm brought into a world of Turns, vampires and hunters and I am totally smitten already with this serial.

I love how the story comes alive in your head, I was pulled into this story willingly at the first moment when we meet Narah, and increasingly excited to read more after meeting Aeslin (I know right she always has the best character names – I find this important)

I love the supernatural world hiding among the Human world with Tamara's own little spin on it.
I loved the two hearts that the vampires have and all those tattoos, makes the imagination work all that little bit sweeter to conjure up images of the characters. The world building is brilliant and oh so interesting.

I Loved Narah right away she has some sass in her I love it.

Aeslin is Oh My Damn!!! Want one!!!!

Intriguing..............

Let me preface this review by stating that I normally don’t read paranormal. That being said, I found Vampire Claim to be very intriguing. Intriguing in the sense that I was taken into a world unfamiliar to me, yet felt as if I never left. VC has, in true Marata fashion, every element you can ask for in a story. Intrigue, suspense, action, drama, and a female character with sass. Marata has the ability, whether she’s writing paranormal or dark erotica, to make me feel. Feel, as if I am the character she’s writing, feel as if I am the character I’m reading. Vampire Claim is the perfect introduction to what I know will be an amazing series and I’m intrigued and excited to see what will happen next and there is no better author (in my opinion) to take me out of my reading comfort zone than Marata.

I loved it so much that I bought the series! This first one is just a taste of what is to come, and what a taste! Let me start by saying that the author hasn't given us a normal world to work with here. There are supernatural forces at play and we're transported into a frightening underworld that could lead so many different directions. We are introduced to the three main characters of the series. Narah Adrienne is a bad-ass enforcer who can take down anyone, but her boss is a stickler for rules. The enforcers protect the humans from the supernatural world, and she's the best at her job. However, she's in trouble, again, and facing a frightening consequence. Aeslin is a Turner, looking for females with just enough of the vampire blood that they can mate and produce young. These females are unique and rare but a necessity to keep their kind from dying out. Matthews is a Hunter, one who does the dirty work needed to cleans the world of supernaturals. He sterilizes the females who can breed with the vampire. When these three soldiers collide, it not only disrupts each individual sect, it could be a complete game changer. We learn that these three barely touch the ugly underbelly of this world.

This author is completely unconventional in the sense that, if you read any of her supernatural or dystopian works, you understand that so many of them intertwine with another of her series'. That's what makes her works so exciting. You don't know if, while you're reading one series, a character or two from another might just show up and throw the entire story off kilter. They are all fast paced with little down-time and not just stimulating but interesting and extremely detailed. With this particular story, the character development is evocative and intense. They three lead characters are sexy and intimidating, but also strong and vulnerable. Her introduction to the Claim series is so rich that you want to get to know these "people," to understand what makes them tick and how their interaction with each other is going to alter their world, making it something more extraordinary. By the time this short story ends, we know who each of the main characters is and what their position is in the story. It is such a tempting tidbit that you want to find out what happens next. That is exactly what a series should do and this particular author does that in spades.

It's a short story that ends in a cliff hanger. But it is such a bold tale that it leaves you wanting to know what will take each of these characters off the path that is set before them, a path that they were each trained to follow. It isn't going to be pretty, and you know it will be dark. It left me excited to read the next book in the series.

A very good book, showing how years or months of loss can be turned around and happiness found. An easy afternoon read and although there are the sad parts dealing with death,, there are lessons to be learned.

I loved the story. I just wish the story would have been longer. I love reading about the Amish household. The life they live is a very peaceful life. A vast difference than our world is today. My grandmother's family came from Germany and settled in Butler Co, Pennsylvania. Love Amish books.

So good...

I read it in less than a day. It is a serial, or as Tasha calls it, an episode, so you're left with a cliffhanger, but what a cliffhanger it is. I actually screeched on the last word! I did receive this as an ARC for an honest review, but that's not why I gave it 5 stars. It really is that good. I'm not going to tell you about the book, because I want you to read it yourself and discover everything on your own. I can't hardly wait for the next episode to arrive, it's that exciting. Get it, read it, you'll love it!!!! FYI....if you check out my other reviews, you'll see that I'm a tough reviewer and I don't hand out 5 star reviews that aren't earned. This book is not a stand-alone. It really is necessary to read the first episode if not all of the books in this group, so to speak.

A gripping continuation that keeps you begging for more!

I received a copy of Fate of the Alpha: Episode 2 by Ms. Black in exchange for my honest review.

If you have not yet read the first book, stop right here and go read it! Episode 2 picks up exactly where Episode 1 ended. Ainsley becomes more comfortable with herself, her magic, and being Alpha. Erik, Ainsley's mate is sent to the town of Copper Creek in the guise of being a psychologist. Julian is teaching Ainsley more about how to control and manipulate her magic as well as becoming more truthful about his past and who he truly is. Grace, Ainsley's best friend, is growing in to her skin and role of being the sheriff of a supernaturally mixed community.

As Ainsley gets closer to finding the identity of the stranger who has stolen Erik's wolf, she will also have to contend with someone near and dear to who, whom she has known her whole life is now a traitor to her, the pack, and their way of life. Will Ainsley figure out who the traitor in their midst is? Will Erik be able to help the werewolf community of Copper Creek? Will Julian and Grace's feelings for each other come to a fruition or will they dwindle and turn sour? Will Ainsley and the gang be able to stop the stranger and others from doing irreparable harm?

I absolutely loved this second book. Ms. Black continues to weave a tale of love and loss, laughter and deceit, and friendship and enemies. I absolutely love Ainsley. She is a heroine who is forced to come to terms and accept who she is and her responsibilities. I felt bad for Erik because he had his wolf stripped away from him, and he now has to find his place in this new world. Julian and Grace are minor characters that pack a punch to the plot and main characters. Just as I was figuring out what was about to happen next, Ms. Black throws me a curve ball and leaves me reeling. Ms. Black has a magical way with words that paints a movie in your mind. The plot is easy to follow and the characters continue to evolve and become more in each scene. I must warn you that this book does end in a major cliffhanger! I I highly recommend this book to those who are fans of werewolves, magic, and suspense. I can not wait to read the next book to find out what happens!

HOT, STEAMY AND HOT! FIVE STARS! Something wicked has come to Tarker’s Hollow…

Erik Jensen has lost his wolf by the darkest of magic. What is going on in the mining town of Copper Creek were he has been sent by Ophelia and the Council? There is much more going on than Erik was led to believe. The alpha of the pack, lost in the mining accident, knew something very evil was under Copper Creek.
Grace Kwan-Cortez is a cop, a person of great magic and very confused by the feelings of love that have overcome her. She and Ainsley are in this mystery of evil together.
Julian Magie is a very smooth operator. Is he to be trusted? He has information that could change Tarker’s Hollow, and the world, forever. He is sworn to secrecy by a secret order and has been for a very long time. To whom will he give his trust and loyalty, this order or his friends?
The very hot, steamy bedroom scenes are vastly different from pair to pair. What incredible scenes: M/F, F/M/F and another surprising M/F. So different, so very effective.
This is the most incredible story, even if it does have a cliffhanger. Tasha Black has given us complex characters who obviously speak to her, a plot full of twists and turns and mystery. She is a phenomenal writer and storyteller.

very good story, loved the hero

I have mixed emotions about this story. I will admit that I started reading and I gave up. It seems young people can be so stupid and immature that I really like stories about older characters. However, I went back and read the reviews and I thought maybe I am missing something so I went back and started reading again.

The hero is a young man that lost part of his leg in the war. He has returned home a different person and a bit lost. His best friend and the heroine in this story is there for him.. Best friends since they were five they never had romantic feelings for one another. He was a good looking popular guy that went out with all the pretty girls. She didn't seem to have much luck with the guys so she didn't date much and she had a lot of negative thoughts about her body, etc. She was popular within their group of friends.

After he returns she tries to have things be like they were in high school. Everyone is older and living different lives. They go through a lot of things before they get their HEA. The hero is above and beyond being a hero. He is one in a million once he discovers love and what it means to him. I really liked this guy. The heroine is a likeable character as well. I really enjoyed the story and I would definitely recommend it.

Now, !!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!! these are just some thoughts but DO NOT READ if it will ruin the story for you. The heroine is a "good" girl, doesn't date much, always does as her strict parent expect her to do. She gives her virginity to the biggest loser in school, now he is the biggest loser in town, lives in a trashy trailer, can't hold down a steady job, loud, abusive, what else can I say about this guy? Now, WHY on earth would she do that? Of course, she winds up pregnant by him and she feels her life is over. Does she sit down and talk with her best friend? No, she decides to go to the loser to tell him because she feels he will jump right in there and be a father and support her at this time. R U KIDDING ME? Does she have a brain at all. I have to believe that saying that pregnant women lose brain cells. I just had a hard time with this part of the story. She could have dated a guy that was just a jerk and leaves town without saying good-bye. But to sleep with this trashy bum, UGH. I had a hard time buying into that part of the story. Another thing I had a problem with was after she sleeps with this trailer trash guy for a short period, every time she is around the hero, she is embarrassed that he is holding her hand. She acts like a timid virgin. I didn't get that and it seemed a bit unreal to me. She put on a t-shirt to cover the cleavage, just things like that sort of made me wonder about this chick!! Even after they had sex a couple of times she didn't want him to see her naked! The two personalities didn't ring true to me.

Deeply romantic

It took me a little time to decide whether I liked our heroine, and I was even less sure about our hero. In many ways, they were typical 21-year-olds, growing into adulthood with missteps and a distinct lack of grace. Brandon had recently returned home from his stint in Afghanistan and was finding his way through the difficulties of civilian life with one leg and a severe case of PTSD. Meanwhile, Mandy was living at home, trying to be the good girl her parents expected her to be while battling low self esteem and making the bad choices that young women with low self esteem often make.

I can't write much more without ruining the book, but suffice it to say that both plot and characters quickly sucked me in and refused to let me go. And I soon began rooting for this couple, whose love grew deeper and stronger with every page. By the end, Brandon had believably morphed into the romantic lead every romance novel needs, and his strength and loyalty are bound to touch your heart.

refreshing read

For me it was a welcome change reading about regular people. There was no millionaire and no size 2 heroine romancing all over the place. This was about 2 young adults who had to make their own way and matured greatly based on the choices they had to make. I love how the tone of the relationship chaged and that the person being supported ended up being the supporter when the Heroine needed someone to lean on. Thumb s up

A Little Disjointed, but a Feel-Good Story for My Heart

I love that we got to revisit the characters from Forever Dreams, which so far has been my favorite book of the Montana Brides series. I knew from the description that there were going to be a lot of problems that turned up. I thought after Alex AND Jordan that maybe things would be okay, but once It's somewhere between something predictable and some twists here and there. I was so tense reading a lot of this, but once Gracie started getting anxious about the pregnancy, I knew something else was going to come up, maybe a hiccup in the pregnancy or at worst a miscarriage, but the plot went a slightly different way. It has a feel-good ending (although it was a little too fast at the end, in my opinion, without much time for the characters to really process the aftermath of the accident), but I think the author made the novella a little overextended by trying to cram too many bad things at once in the beginning. Still, it was a happy ending for my favorite characters of the series, so five stars because I'm a sucker for a good ending. It was also nice to see that Gracie had gotten close with her father and his family, as well.

OK plot, could do with a good edit

I really enjoyed the first book, and this second volume was not nearly as good. A LOT of typos - every page had errors. The story was OK, but nothing really happened. If you are looking for something better, try Origin ARS or one of the many other options.

These books are also quite short. That's fine if the author puts effort into making the work above average, but that was not the case here. I gave it three stars because I did finish it, but it was borderline a two star book.

Good story, ok writing

Most of my review for part 1 covers this book as well. There is something compelling me to want to know where the story is going to, but the writing style feels a bit disjuncted and abrupt. It should also have been combined with part 1 simply because this volume actually lifts a bit of the veil to show that more is going on than meets the eye and which explains some of the oddities of the first part.

This second book was better than the first one ( it made me even read both of them twice) it may look too expensive but again for real fans of litrpg its worth it.
(spoiller alert)
I gave 4,5 stars because I feel its a bit incomplete specially in the "sacred arts" department because it isn't well explained the stamina and sacred arts use ratio, the auther just throws some percentages (60% , 50%, 40% of stamina cost and yet they are used multiple times in a row...) and says that in time they are "reduced" and I belive that in the skills/stats pages that show up from time to time it should also show all the sacred arts and their current cost like (triple stab and another one from the first book that seems to have been forgotten).
