A Charming Start To A New Series!

I'm not going into details about my weekend, but I was very busy and almost forgot about reading The Promise of Palm Grove by Shelly Shepard Gray. I was due to post my review today, so I made a pot of coffee and read the entire book this morning.
The Promise of Palm Grove centers on a young Amish woman, Leona, who traveled from Ohio to Florida with her cousin Sara and her fiance’s sister Mattie. Ever since she got engaged to Edmund, her entire family & community has become obsessed with her upcoming wedding. She was thrilled when she was invited on a mini-vacation to the Amish community in Pinecraft, Florida as it is a way for her to relieve the stress of planning a wedding. Well, at least that is what she told Mattie and Sara, but the truth is that she need to take a break from Edmund, whom can be a little controlling at times.
The one thing Leona didn't plan on was meeting the handsome Zachary Kaufmann, a resident of Pinecraft, whom she takes an instant liking to. Zachary has the same affection for Leona and enjoys spending time with her.
Now Leona must decide whether or not to return to Ohio and marry Edmund or stay here in Pinecraft for a possible life with Zachary.
I'm a big fan of Amish fiction and Shelly Shepard Gray is one of my favorite writers of the genre. She doesn't disappoint with book one of the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series; giving us one of her best stories so far. The main characters are likeable, the plot is intriguing and the descriptions of the Pinecraft are wonderfully written. Overall, The Promise Of Palm Grove is fast-paced Amish romance that I enjoyed reading from start to finish.

The Promise of Pine Grove

Shelley Shepard Gray has once again written a book you just don’t want to put down nor do you want it to end!
This first book of The Palm Grove series takes us from the cold winter of Ohio to sunny Pinecraft Florida. We travel on the Pioneer Trails bus with three friends eager for a vacation and some time in a warmer climate. Leona is engaged to Edmund, a very controlling man…she needs a break from him! Her cousin Sara and Edmund’s sister Mattie make the trip with her.
Stay with these friends at the Orange Blossom Inn, meet the Inn Keeper, Beverly. Join the girls on their adventures, emotional struggles, ups and downs with each other and much more. You won’t be able to put the book down and, like me, you’ll be anxiously waiting for the next one!!

Wonderful Story

This first book in the Amish Brides of Pinecraft series does not disappoint. Shelley Shepard Gray has woven a tale of love and friendship that will hook the reader from the first page and keep them interested until the very last word.
This book was a quick and easy read. The story line is good and flows so well that the pages practically turn themselves. The characters are all likable (except maybe Edmund--don't worry, you will understand once you start reading) and the setting is wonderful. Shelley has written with such detail that I felt like I was actually in sunny Pinecraft, FL instead of cold and snowy Indiana.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves Amish fiction or someone who is looking for a nice lighthearted read. This is a good book to read on a snowy, rainy or sunny day.
