If Maps ruled the world, his best pal Benji would be court jester, and every day would celebrate a new experiment.

No, scratch that.

If Maps ruled the world, his best pal would still be living next door, and there wouldn’t be any gap-toothed new guy staring at him as if he’s bonkers.

Pity Maps doesn’t rule the world . . .

Maps... they don't love you like I love you... but they all will when they read your story.
By Sara S.
This was fun. I loved Maps. No I totally adored the hell out of Maps. He was focused and yet all over the place. From his first conversation with his best friend Benji as he is moving the dreaded few blocks away to the most awkward meet cute ever with Lane, the new boy next door. The boy was a total mess but what genius isn't? Their minds are on hyper-drive 99% of the time that either you jump on for the ride or get left behind. It's a good thing Lane is a jock and has major endurance to keep up with Maps.

The friendship to relationship with Maps and Lane was honest and sweet. Maps is such a good guy it would only make sense that he would fall for someone cut from the same cloth. It was endearing how he kept his close friendship with Benji and even how Lane's little sister Stacie figured into the whole deal. Of course, she could be pointed out as the reason the boys, um met the way they did. Satan's favorite child has evil plans of smooshing boys together even when she has no idea what her five year old self is doing.

Maps, the name. I was waiting to see WHY he was called that as his name is Matthew or Mattie. But Maps, the meaning behind it all was so damn adorable which of course leads us to a freaking swoon worthy scene with Lane. Good Lord, I wasn't expecting it and just loved how heart felt and romantic it was. I could have given Benji a Italian mother's love tap for his reaction to it but it wasn't mean for him, it was meant for Maps. And Maps got it.

Maps poor mother, I just have to mention that I have a child, not as extreme as Maps, but I feel her pain. I loved his dad's sense of humor and how they both handled the situation at the Rhodes house at dinner before the storm of peas.

Ugh. These two were so cute and I don't say that lightly. It was adorable to read them, knowing they like one another but both thinks the other is taken and when Maps asks that sexuality question? Lane's response was exactly what I needed.

Yeah, Maps and Lane... Le Sigh.

AND MAD PROPS for including the Yeah Yeah Yeah's! That song is one of my favorites to sing at karaoke! Well done, Ms. Summers. Well done.

This book was provided by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. Thanks!

Maps! Oh man, I loved this. So many good YA stories lately--I feel spoiled.

Maps (Matthew) is awkward and smart and reminds me way too much of what it's like to not quite fit in--except I was never cool enough to do all of Maps's random experiments. :)

Left reeling (in excellent, dramatic high school fashion) by his best friend moving from next door to a few blocks away, Maps makes an excellent first impression on his new neighbors by accidentally kidnapping their little girl and then threatening their son (hottie Lane) with a knife. Well...that's not quite how it goes, but perception is reality. :) Maps, unforgiving about being his unique self, starts the new semester and finds Lane is now at his school, although a year ahead. They end up sharing a class (because Lane isn't that great at math), Maps ends up tutoring Lane so he doesn't fail out of math forever, and the rest is somewhat history. But it's done with humor and a lightness that was very refreshing after some of the heavier stuff I've read lately. Not to say there wasn't any sad at all, because, hey, teenagers, but it's nicely mitigated by the happy moments, like Benji dressed as a flower and Maps liking baseball. Yes, Maps is trying to figure himself out, but unlike with a lot of protagonists in YA stuff, it's not the main focus of his life or the story. It's something he stumbles upon along the way, as he's traveling along the road of his normal quirky life.

I've never read anything of Nash Summer's before, and I will absolutely go look for more. I laughed out loud (more than once) (in public!) while reading this.

Oh, there's also a really good cast of secondary characters, everyone from Benji to Madame Sprinkle to Benji's unpleasant brother--they all added something and made the story richer.

I'd read a thousand pages about Maps--I hope there's more someday!

Sweet and Hilarious
By Jamie Deacon
First, I have to say how much I love the blurb for this book! Humorous, quirky and to the point, it's the perfect teaser to a wonderful story. It's rare for a protagonist to come across so strongly in only a few sentences, but Nash Summers has captured him brilliantly. Maps is one of the most unique characters I've had the pleasure of being introduced to in a long time. Every action, every exchange of dialogue is testament to his off-the-wall geekiness, and I absolutely adored him.

Maps is a total science nerd. His parents have grown accustomed to finding experiments in various stages of completion around the house, while his best--well, only--friend Benji is ever the willing assistant. Despite his academic genius, however, Maps is clueless when it comes to social interaction. Most people are as incomprehensible to him as he is to them, and since their intellect is far inferior to his own, he doesn't consider them worth worrying about. There is no place in his life for romance . . . until a new family moves into the house next door.

On the surface, Lane is the typical jock--gorgeous and popular, his talent on the baseball field outweighing his performance in the classroom. In short, he is Maps's opposite in every respect. Yet, Lane sees beyond the eccentricity to the genuine person beneath, and arouses feelings in Maps he never knew he was capable of. As Maps helps Lane get to grips with Math and Lane teaches him to play baseball, an unlikely friendship forms between them, a friendship Maps dares to dream could blossom into something more.

'Maps' is a touching and hilarious novella about first love and falling for someone in spite of social barriers and differences in personality. If I have one criticism, it's that the story ended far too soon. Maps and Lane are such adorable characters, their budding romance so authentic in its tentative sweetness, I couldn't help wanting more. It's been a while since I actually laughed out loud at a book, but this one had me chuckling to myself from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I won't be reading more than this story by this author.....
By Runnergirl
*Spoilers* Okay, I can't roll my eyes enough here. So this girl, Mikayla's, family gets brutally murdered, so she goes to live with Jake, a guy who she just met the night before, and his family. But she barely grieves and all she can do is think about is sleeping with Jake. Jake's family is totally fine with a total stranger coming to live with them, and they even build a room over their garage for this girl. Jake keeps sneaking across the roof to fool around with Mikayla, and his dad basically high-fives him when he finds out that his teenage son, who is on the cusp of a huge baseball career, is possible having sex with this girl who has been through a catastrohic loss. Mikayla, who has been sleeping with her former boyfriend for years, suddenly has a "I wonder what my parents would think about what I'm doing" moment with Jake. It's just ridiculous. Everyone is condoning these 18 year olds basically playing house together in a room provided by Jake's parents. Mikayla only seems to feel hot and bothered for Jake, instead of losing her mind after losing her entire family. Jake is all kinds of sweet, and too good to be true. The writing is actually pretty good by the author, but the story is just silly.

A Story of Tragedy and True Love...
By Kirstie's Passionate About Reading
When I started to read "More Than This" I thought it was going to be a teen angst story...BUT...I was totally proven wrong.

There is definitely a coming of age element to the story...but more so a story of tragic circumstances that force a young woman to decide if she will lay day and let it overcome her or stand tall and accept what fate has in store for her.

Mikayla's adult life is only just beginning...but life takes a horrible turn bringing all that she has ever known crashing down around her. Destiny steps in and offers her sanctuary in the arms of a good Samaritan.

Jake is an all star boy next door type who has a heart of gold. He happens to be there when Mikayla's life is turned upside down. Jake cannot help but want to comfort Mikayla through this difficult time...the question is will it stop at comfort? Can Jake help Mikayla heal without his heart being held wide open?

Mikayla deals with her losses maturely yet still with plenty of emotion...Jake is beautifully patient with Mikayla supporting her through her pain and suffering.

Ms McLean very bravely worked with some very heavy issues but was able to mold them into a very powerful story line.

Ms McLean was able to maintain the integrity of the story line without making it all about the sexual tension, in turn the story was well worth reading to the very end. Now I have to admit I enjoy a story with plenty of hot sex, but this story was not about that or the usual angst a lot of books contain. The story played out beautifully with realistic characters that as a reader you will become very fond of. An Amazing story definitely worth reading!

he waited until she had some closure **SPOILERS**
By RomReader
18yo heroine ends up with 18yo hot-shot athlete Hero on her prom night after she catches her boyfriend & best friend in the act. Hero & his friends take her into their group to help her have a good time despite what happened. But her romance crisis is nothing like the trauma she experienced the end of that long night when she comes home & her whole family has been murdered by a burglar. Hero & his family take her in as she deals with her losses & her uncertain future. She & Hero spend inordinate amount of time together & their attachment to each other deepens. Yet they don't make any official commitments to each other & are careful about their physical intimacy. She's trying to figure out her new life & he gives her the space she needs. As college looms ahead, does it push them to finally make a commitment? Or will it give them more reason to put their relationship on hold?

The first chapter began with lots of drama & its these ups & downs that heroine deals with throughout the book. I liked how MacLean handled heroine's multiple losses. We see her go through different ways of dealing with them. It wasn't rushed & her romance was Hero wasn't portrayed as the cure. Her relationship with Hero was still very much tied to how she's handling her losses & her new life without her loved ones. And we clearly see Hero as her rock through all of it. Sure, he blew up at times but he apologized & the rest of the time it was all about heroine & making sure she was feeling supported & cared for by him. He made me sigh a few times. He was the perfect boyfriend who wasn't her official boyfriend. Hero did a lot of showing of his love for her than telling.**

The sex scenes were not explicit. There were more descriptions for their foreplay than the consummation. I wasn't disappointed since, at that point in the book, the highlight was on their emotional & verbal commitment to each other.

Recommended.

Another pleasant addition to the Dalton Boys series.
By Beach Bum Books
Cowboy Crushin' is another good episode in the Dalton Boys quest to land brides and a piece of their future on the ranch. Witt was yet another drool-worthy and rather perceptive fellow when it comes to figuring out the best way to snare the fickle Shelby and her young son Alex.

Unfortunately I couldn't really warm up to Shelby, not with her history of hooking up with everything in slacks or jean, and a propensity to lose herself by trying to please them, a trait that carries over to her new friend helping out at the store. That kind of personality paired with an alpha male who recognizes her problem didn't leave a lot of leeway for working out details of a relationship fast-tracked by circumstances. His alpha-male personality and her subservience really didn't track well for having her learn a different set of behaviors you need to make a relationship last.

I usually don't care for munchkins in romances since they tend to dominate and distract from the romantic elements, but Alex's reluctance to connect with people actually added to the story, and to Witt's persistence in having everything work out. On the other hand, I needed more to the story to buy into Shelby coming to grips with her issues and live up to Witt's expectations. In spite of that, I'm looking forward to the next two in the series.

Red hot attraction battles reluctant uncertainty
By Paula G.
Those are not exactly the words I'm looking for to describe the romantic tension between Shelby and Witt in this tender novel, but close enough. The theme of this Dalton Boys love story is caution requiring patience - caurion on the part of a romance-weary young mom and the patience of her rarin'-to-go cowboy suiter.

The many sexy scenes of erotic need tempered by self-denial are so very entertaining, titilating and finally, ultimately satisfying. Witt is as hot as his brothers, and like Hank and Cash, as susceptible to sudden undeniable lust and love for the new girl in town. Will her feelings ever catch up to this faithful young gentleman's longing for commitment? The telling of their emotional story is a delicious reading experience. 4 stars.

Worth the Wait (Picking up the Pieces Book 4), by Jessica Prince

Cloverleaf was Mackenzie Webster's escape. It was the place where she'd dreamed of starting over, of creating a new life for her and her children. She had a carefully thought out plan for what this new life would look like, and nowhere in it was there room for a new relationship. But the one thing Kenzie never counted on was meeting Brett Halstead.

Brett's life was all about fun and friends. "Long term" wasn't a phrase that fit his lifestyle. That was, until Kenzie walked into his life and turned his laid back world upside down. Now he wants serious. He wants long term, and he wants it with Kenzie and her kids.

But her past refuses to go away and threatens to tear the couple apart. Can Brett break through Kenzie’s walls and show her that love doesn’t always hurt, or has the damage already been done? The one thing he knows for certain is that a life with Kenzie is worth the wait. And he’ll do whatever it takes to prove that to her.

A great end to a great series!
By Angie IsA ReadingMachine
After Brett's callous remark in Pushing the Boundaries I was curious how he was going to bounce back from that one. But he did, oh boy, did he ever. He's an amazing man. He never let prickly Kenzie deter him. He never gave up proving to her he was nothing like her ex.

Kenzie has had a s**t life. She went straight from emotionally abusive and neglectful parents to an emotionally and physically abusive partner. But she eventually got her and her kids away from him to start a new life in Cloverleaf.

Becoming friends with Lizzy and the gang was new for Kenzie. She never had so many people love her and that she could count on. Then she and Brett caught each other's eye. She was resistant, of course, but he wasn't having it. Brett proved over and over again that she and the kids could trust him.

I loved the scene with the dishes. It was one of those moments where actions spoke louder than words ever could. Very moving.

The epilogue was great. It made me smile even though this was the end. What a great series!

What a great end to a fabulous series!!
By ebf
I absolutely loved this series. As sad as I am to see it end, the ending was perfect. Adored Brett and the way he loved the twins. My heart just melted. So much fun watching the gang together whether its to support one another or tease them relentlessly. That tight group was a joy to watch as they each had their own adventure to their HEA. The ending of this book did a wonderful job wrapping everyone's story up. This was a fantastic series filled with hopes, tears, tons of laughter and sass, and just good ole' fun times and so glad I was able to read every story. Looking forward to reading more of the author's books :)

This series is phenomenal!!
By Katie Johnson
Seriously. I fell in love with every character from the very first book. Please, go buy each one, read them in order, and fall in love with this gang of misfits just as much as I have. Each has their own story that takes you through their past and present, struggles and how they overcame them, picking up the pieces of their life, and moving forward with love and happiness. I seriously want to join this "family" right now. Great books, great author! You can't go wrong with this series.

I absolutely love this particular series!
By Ellena deLeon
If you're interested in aliens who are the equivalent of the men of our own home world that have been altered to be super soldiers and have a strict code of honor that they live by, then you will absolutely love this completely amazing and wonderful series that shows you love like you have never seen before!!! I'm so definitely recommending that you get this book and series for your own personal library and then you will find yourself curled up in your favorite chair reading about these amazing people and wishing that you were a part of these wonderful creations of the authors mind and also yearning to be a pair bond to one of those rare men who take their mates and code of honor seriously and I know that I totally wish that I was a pair bond with one of those totally manly men who take their responsibilities very seriously and they also love their pair bond with all of their hearts and minds! Can you think what would be better than someone who takes your health and care more importantly then his own? I know that I would like to be waiting for such a man as this!!! Congratulations, Cynthia Clement, for your series of the aHunter4Hire!!! Believe me when I say that this series is one of the very best series that I have ever had the pleasure and privilege to get to read and I am waiting impatiently with bated breath for the next installment of this particular series and I'm telling you that you will find out that the pleasure and enjoyment of reading this series will change how you look at the paranormal romance books, because, they fire your imagination and make you think twice about what may be out there in the vastness of space!!!

4th in THIS Series
By Amazon Book Purchaser
The action and turns in this book keep you reading that is for sure. A HEA achieved but at a cost and a set-up for the next books laid out. I personally didn't like the new aliens but if handled well, should be interesting. This story would draw readers into law enforcement agencies but be prepared to know what you truly stand for.

Even though they can be stand alone books, they are a series and I strongly recommend reading them as such AND in order!

Thanks for an active read Ms Clement.

Long, drawn out, boring, but digestible
By Ginny
I give the author great props for the complexities of this story. However, it has no true sci-fi features and spends time explaining why Hunters and other aliens are just like humans and things like concrete responses to idioms is overdone. This time could have perhaps been spent in some world building for aliens being on Earth.

Spoilers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The hero is defeated multiple times in this story and the sense of Alpha male is not achieved. The heroine is a ridiculously naive FBI agent who unfortunately shows continual TSTL characteristics and her angst is uninspiring. Let me be constructively specific. If your heroine is a top line FBI agent trained in martial arts, self-defense, terrorism and counter-terrorism, you shouldn't give her frequent panic attacks, have her be physically unable to jog a mile or walk two dozen without collapsing, be able to think clearly and precisely would seem like qualities she should have, and dammi@ she was bested in every confrontation when not falling down except for 1 TIME and then she got hurt because she didn't perform the maneuver right. Your hero came off as wimpy, making self-defeating decisions which put him and his pair bond in deadly danger again and again. And where were the other Hunters? The hero called them multiple times but they never appear until the end - then they make it to Australia in super fast time.

Editing and constructive beta readers would improve this greatly. Seek some help with your sex scenes = the opportunity for the heroine to take the hero's virginity could have been hot or even erotic but fell flat and after waiting for three-quarters of the story for it, big disappointment.

"An epic love. An epic hate. An epic story that would last a lifetime."

I hurt. I hurt so deeply, I felt the pain searing in my bones and jabbing like a hot poker into my heart. I knew nothing would make it better as the memories pulled from the crevices of my mind, detailing the bad and the ugly, filling my thoughts with regret as I slipped into the darkness. . .

When I was eight, my mother was dying of cancer, my father lost his job, and the bank kicked us out of our house. I was forced to move to the strange town of Arlis, Texas where my father and I slept in our car in the hospital parking lot. Desperate and hopeless, we lived on fumes of our former life.

Then one night, everything changed forever. A knock on the car window brought a family into my life that I only wanted to shut out. I hated charity and I hated the Masons. Well, except one. He made it impossible to hate him.

Jess Mason had the biggest blue eyes and ornery smile of any boy I had ever seen. He was a ray of sunshine in my dark world. A boy full of adventure, dragging me across the meadow of Sprayberry Ranch; a beautiful Texas paradise full of horses and tree houses that got us into more trouble than anyone ever imagined.

Jess was my everything as a kid until we grew up and the rules changed. Instead of living happily ever after with a boy full of love. . . I destroyed it.

AN EPIC LOVE STORY!! 5 STARS!!
By Aestas Book Blog
WOW WOW WOW!!! This book was just breathtaking!! I loved the writing, I felt the story, and the intensity of this childhood friends-to-lovers romance kept my heart racing the whole way through!! Truly, an epic love story.

It began with a heart-wrenching scene set in present day. While we didn't know exactly what had happened, it was clear that the heroine had just been through some kind of trauma. And in order to explain what was happening to her, we were taken back to the beginning of her story. To her childhood.

Alex (heroine) and Jess (hero) met when they were just eight years old. Alex's mother was dying and after her father lost his job, they were kicked out of their home. Homeless and with no where else to go, they were forced to sleep in their old truck outside the hospital in the parking lot... until Mr. Mason, the doctor treating Alex's mother, found them one night and made them a generous offer that would change their lives. Even though Alex hated the idea of charity, she and her father had no choice but to accept the help... She may have hated the charity, but the one person she couldn't hate was the doctor's son, Jess. A boy her age who was the first person to make her smile again in what seemed like forever.

"I let myself be pulled in by Jess. The broken, leftover shell of a girl felt bright and shiny whenever he stepped in a room."

The Masons gave Alex and her father a place to live on their ranch and over the years, she and Jess grew up together and become inseparable best friends. Without giving too much away, I'll just say that this book then follows their story all the way through to adult-hood as they eventually fall in love.

This story blew me away!! I truly felt every word with all my heart and soul. From the moment I read the prologue I was hooked and could not put it down. The more I read, the more invested I became in these characters and I can honestly say that I had tears in my eyes for the entire last 20% of the book.

This was such a multilayered story. There were two storylines, past and present, that were seamlessly woven together. It's not always easy to write this kind of dual timeline but this author did a fantastic job with it. My heart didn't stop racing. I cared about the past, I was beyond curious about the future, and I loved seeing the way all the pieces we were shown fell in together as their life story began to take shape.

It's both a coming-of-age story and a romance. Alex had a lot of personal issues stemming from the charity she was forced to accept each day. Her intense guilt over the generosity showered on her by the Masons fuelled her deep-seeded need for independence that shaped the course of many years of her life. For a long time, she insisted that on only being friends with Jess. Best friends, but nothing more. As frustrating as that was, I felt like I could understand her reasons while simultaneously wishing desperately for them to be together. It was painful because I felt so connected to this story. It didn't just feel like I was reading their story, it felt like I was living it right along side them. Meanwhile Jess had loved her since they were small. He still knew she had a lot to work through and was willing to wait for her until she might be ready. This guy just loved her so much that it broke my heart at times. Especially with the stunning beautiful writing... it was all just overwhelmingly emotional at times.

"His blue eyes spoke a thousand words all rolled into a heartfelt stare. They calmed the panic inside my body. In the silence between two friends, the air carried an entire conversation. His dark lashes blinked back a vow I knew he meant more than anything. `I promise this will not destroy us.'

But the things about best friends... and soul mates... is that, no matter what, they gravitate back to each other. And there was no doubt, from the very start, that Alex and Jess were meant for each other.

To say the ending is intense in an understatement of epic proportions but my gosh was it ever amazing!! The author didn't hold back and even though it ripped out my heart, that epilogue rounded everything out perfectly! I couldn't have been happier with the finale.

Everything about this book, from the writing, to the story, to the emotions it evoked, made it exactly the kind of story I most love to read. The delicious, heart wrenching push/pull of Alex and Jess' friendship and love, the guilt, the longing, the desire, the pain, the healing, all of it was just stunningly portrayed. This is truly one of the most beautiful stories I've ever read. An absolutely EPIC love story. I recommend this book for everyone!!

"We've got somethin' that people look for their whole lives.
We just found it when we were eight."

Rating: 5 STARS!!! Standalone romance.

Very emotional journey...
By Cindy O
Intensely emotional 20 year journey between two people from completely different walks of life but who forge a lifelong bond.

This is not a hearts and flowers story. Due to circumstances that were too much for her 8 year old mind to grasp Alexander "Alex" rages at the injustice and rages at the ones that help. The only one she lets partially in is Jess Mason. We as a reader knew these two were destined for each other when they were both 8 but Alex refused to believe she was ever good enough for his love so she kept him in the friend’s zone and broke his heart more than once over the 20 years. It was painful at times watching Alex’s self destructing behavior and how that eventually affected her “friendship” with Jess. The old saying of you don’t know what you had till it’s gone is basically Alex’s life.

There are many times you will need Kleenex reading this and also times you just want to beat Alex over the head to get over it. The ending was not a traditional ending but the epilogue which was probably another twenty years later finally left you with a happy feeling.

Wanted more but over all it was an okay read.
By Queen B
So the start rating here is different than on goodreads on goodreads I gave it 2 (it was okay) on here 3 is "It's okay" either way here is my review...
This book was all over the place so many bloggers I follow were talking about it and how amazing it was. I knew I just had to start it in the hopes that I would feel the same way.

Though I hate to say that I didn't fall in absolute love with it the way others did. It was a good book, it was a sweet story, I did enjoy it overall. I just didn't feel as pulled into it as I wished I would have been. It took me around four days to read it because I just kept losing interest and would stop reading. It was a lot of back and forth and back and forth which overall is not an issue but I just wanted to know what was going on in the now (today) in the book when we get so little of it.

I know that many loved this book and I LOVE when I find a book that so many adore, yet something in it fell flat for me. It just reminds me how different we all are and how what one person loves another may not.

For me I didn't connect, although I felt for Alex, I just didn't understand some things and was waiting for more of an explanation and didn't get it (or maybe it was one of the times I read but just didn't pay much attention to what I was reading). I understand the need for back-story but at the same time I felt like that is 90% of this book. I understood why Alex disliked the Mason's but at the same time I felt like she was very ungrateful, considering what her life could have been.

Now the main reason I was not a big fan of this story would be the ending. I read this book with as I said about 90% of it being the back-story 36/54 chapters are her past (from her being the age of 6 to the age of 26 and not consecutively so one chapter will be when she was 6 the next when she was 8 then you will have around 5 chapters all when she was 16 years old and so on.) That didn't bother me though, what killed me is we went from so much of their past to a little of the present then it jumps SO far into the future. I COMPLETELY understand that it was a long story as it was (which is not bad) but I felt like maybe she could have made it a duo that way she could have gotten more of the present in there that so many of us were actually looking forward to. (I won't say exactly what because that would give spoilers)

I just felt like there was such a build up and then bam it was over and we got nothing much in between if that makes sense (for those who have read you will understand maybe).

It makes me happy to find out this is the authors first book and so many have read and loved it. I don't question if she will only get better!!

Falling Away (The Falling Series Book 4), by Jasinda Wilder

My name is Benjamin Dorsey. You know my mom and dad's story. You know Kylie's parents' story. You even know Kylie's story.

You don't know mine, yet.

You don't know what a broken heart is until you've loved someone your whole life, only to have her slip through your fingers because you waited too long. That's heartbreak. That's regret. And how do you live with that? How do you go through the motions when she's there as a reminder of what you lost, of what you could have had but were too damn chicken to go after? I couldn't. So I left.

That's right, I ran away. I found myself across the continent, playing minor league football. I mean, at least I still had football, right?

Nope. That got taken away from me too. A career-ending injury left me down-and-out, scraping the bottom of the barrel, hating myself and hating life. And then I met Cheyenne Leveaux, my physical therapist, who became my one and only friend, the one bright light in the darkness of my messed up life.

But of course nothing is ever simple, or easy.

Tragedy struck, and the rug was swept out from under me yet again, and this time the guilt, the doubt, the secrets, and the old heartbreak may threaten my one chance at true happiness, my one shot at my own happily ever after.

So sad to say goodbye
By Paola (Paola's Bookshelf)
I have been anxiously awaiting for Fallen Away by Jasinda Wilder ever since I finished Falling Under. And Jasinda has done it justice.

In Falling Under, we learned that Ben Dorsey drove away from Nashville with a broken heart because he lost the one woman he thought was made for him. The girl he's loved his entire life.

"I have to figure out who I am, now."

After running away, driving non stop from city to citym losing touch with his parents and doing odd jobs, he settles in Texas to play football. But, a little after a tragedy happens and an injury ends his career.

Alone and hurt, his physical therapist becomes his only friend. A woman willing to help him get back to himself. But, fate decides to play him another hand, leaving Ben lonely, broken, angry and feeling guilty.

Then he meets Echo Leveaux and everything changes. They are drawn together, bonded and their chemistry is undeniable. And all they want is to belong, but there are secrets that could hurt both of them.

Echo is a talented songwriter and musician that has always been in control and guided things. She's beautiful, stubborn, broken and doesn't let anyone get too close, but with Ben she's just different.

"Somehow, with Ben, everything is just...different. He's different, and I'm different with him."

Sadly, sooner than expected new struggles are born, truths are revealed and heir bubble is ripped open by reality.

“We’ve been brought together by a tragedy, and we can’t seem to stay away from each other.”

I encourage you all to go read this amazing story and discover Echo and Ben for yourself. Like in the other books in the series, music played a huge part in this final installment. I promise you won't be disappointed. It left me with the goofiest grin on my face.

Falling Away was the perfect conclusion to the series and is the happy ending Ben deserved all along. It was everything I hoped it would be and, even though I'm very sad to say goodbye, I can't wait for another amazing story from Jasinda. She's truly a brilliant mind and creates characters and stories that will forever live in your heart.

In Review: Falling Away (Falling #4) by Jasinda Wilder
By Kim
I went into this book with mixed feelings. I was excited to finally get the last piece of the puzzle –Ben's story – but I was also sad to say goodbye to these characters. I've been so wrapped up with these characters and their lives that while I'm happy to have the whole story, it stung a bit to have to let them go. Jasinda's Falling series was one of my first new adult series, and still remains one of my favorites to date. Falling Away gave the strong conclusion this series so richly deserved.

Ben was a rather complicated character. While I loved him in Falling Under and I understood why he behaved as he did with Kylie's budding relationship, I didn't love some of his actions. That said, I was still anxious to get inside his head and follow along as he found his happily ever after. But holy crap was it a bumpy road. Ben's story illustrates the old adage that "everything happens for a reason," but it was still tough to read at times.

Ben's not in the greatest of places at the beginning of Falling Away. He's lost the girl he's loved his entire life. The one he thought of as his soul mate. He left his family and friends to try to find himself and found some satisfaction in playing minor league football, but in another twist of fate, he suffers a career-ending injury and is a bit lost once again. Despite the close nature of his relationship with his parents, he's not kept in touch with them and they don't know the extent of what he's dealing with. It's in physical therapy that he meets a woman who starts to help him get back to himself, but then she's stolen from him before they have a chance to explore the attraction between them. My heart broke for him at this point.

Enter Echo, Cheynne's daughter. She and Ben bonded nearly immediately. There was some awkwardness when she discovered the connection Ben and her mom had, but in the end it only served to solidify their relationship. Echo was a strong character, but she wasn't in a great place. She was struggling and Ben helped her through it. She wasn't the easiest character for me to connect with, but I understood why her walls were locked so strongly in place. She's also an incredibly talented songwriter and musician and I loved how nicely that fit with the other books in the series. Music has played such a huge part in each of the novels. I was glad to see that continue here.

Falling Away was an emotional and captivating book. I was sucked into Ben's journey from the very first chapter. He was a good kid from a great family. He was just going through a rough patch. There were a few revelations about him that I found to be fairly surprising, but I won't get into all of that. I'll just say things aren't always what they seem. He and Echo made a perfectly imperfect, powerful match. The strength of their connection was undeniable, even if it was a bit complicated. The sexual tension leapt off the pages and things got pretty steamy, as you've probably come to expect from Jasinda's books. Sexual chemistry is great, but it was the characters, their journeys and the level of feels that made this book special to me.

Without giving anything away, I have to say I loved the way everything (and everyone) came back together in this final installment. While this is the official end of the Falling series, I'm thrilled to learn that some of the amazing secondary characters we're introduced to in this book will be getting a spinoff series of their own. I'll certainly be counting the days until Echo the Stars is available. I adored Brayden. I need more.

Well done, Jasinda. You made me laugh, cry and fall in love. I felt all the feels and ended the book with happy tears streaming down my face. Books like this are why I love to read so much.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Great Book
By Amanda
Okay so it is official I am IN love with Jasinda's books...
I have been waiting since the end of Falling Under for Ben's book...he was just so epically broken at the end of that book. Reading Ben's book was heartbreaking at times and made me want to shake the author and say, "WHY?!?! WHY would you do that to Ben????"
Then there was Echo...she was so lost and just needed to talk to someone (though she didn't even realize it), she had her demons and some huge issues but she was exactly what Ben needed, and vice versa.

I am extremely sad that this is the last book in this series as I have come to love the characters but I'm happy to have a new beginning with with the rest of Echo's band members.
This book did pull the ending of this series perfectly together and I highly recommend reading this series. It was emotional, heartbreaking, and overall an amazing series.

What happens when the life you're running from won't let go of your heart?

Kaitlyn Reed and Steven Braden have always had a similar philosophy of life: when the going gets tough, they get going--out of town and away from the problem. Now they are both back in Last Chance, New Mexico, and trying to start over.

Kaitlyn is working to reestablish a relationship with the seven-year-old daughter she left behind six months earlier. Steven is trying to prove to his family that he is not the irresponsible charmer they have always known him to be. As Kaitlyn and Steven find themselves drawn to one another, one big question keeps getting in the way: How will they learn to trust each other when they don't even trust themselves?

With emotional depth and characters who leap off the page and into your heart, Cathleen Armstrong invites you to return once more to the dusty and delightful town of Last Chance.

Cathleen Armstrong lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Ed, and their corgi. Well-developed but lacked connection as a reader
By Ashley Pichea
As much as I loved book one in the A Place to Call Home series (read my review of Welcome to Last Chance), the rest of the series was just “ok” for me. To be honest, I found myself glad to wrap this series up in At Home in Last Chance, but this final book didn’t excite me the way the first book in the series did.

The characters were well-developed and the story line was solid, but I just didn’t connect with the overall feel of the book.

Well Developed Characters And A Vivid Description of Small Town Life
By Ruby Reads
At Home in Last Chance
Kaitlyn Reed and Steven Braden have indulged in similar behaviors. They run when life situations get tough. Neither has any responsibility.
Kaitlyn’s last mistake was appalling . She abandoned her seven year old daughter with her brother who lives in single wide trailer and took off on the back of a motorcycle with a new boyfriend. Now she's returned and is working in her brother’s diner and trying to reconnect with her daughter. It isn't easy in a small town where everyone knows her business. Steven is dealing with a history of trading on his looks to get by, but he realizes he has to change. Their relatives can’t believe these two irresponsible people would ever be right for each other.
Kaitlyn and Steven deal with the issues of learning from mistakes and struggle with family issues while denying that they are interested in each other.

What I liked:

–The characters are well developed. The life of a teen mom working for her brother in his diner and living with him in his single wide trailer with her 7 year old she essentially abandoned is vivid.
-Descriptions of the small town and what it like to live where people know your business before you do or make it up is spot on.

What I Didn’t like:
Unfortunately, I didn’t find the story about an unmarried teen mom very exciting. It was too much like real life. After the first few chapters, I found myself skipping ahead as I was tired of family squabbles and a plot not really going anywhere. Finally the ending was abrupt. The story could have benefited from an epilogue.

Bottom line:
There are readers who will like this novel as it is a “clean” read. Also, many will like the quirky characters and find the small town setting fascinating.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this novel for an honest review.

The Legend of Arturo King (Legendary Rock Star Series Book 1), by L.B. Dunbar

He's a living legend.
I'm a rock god. It's no secret.
My band, The Nights, got our start playing at the Round Table in NYC.
I always wanted to be the king of Rock & Roll.

I just had no idea how close I already was.
Being raised in a foster home, I didn't know the extent of my inheritance.
Hell, I didn't even know I had anything.
And now, I've got it all.
But there is still one thing I want,
Guinevere DeGrance.

She's hiding in the wings.
I'm the opposite of him.
Quiet and reserved, always avoiding the limelight.
All I wanted was to play the cello, but trained for society,
I was forced into his spotlight.
Thrown into his crowd--with all eyes on me.
And I couldn't resist.

He's talented and sexy, completely irresistible.
He's changed me.
Awakened me.
He's everything to me.
He's Arturo King.

I knew LB had it in her!
By Cassidy1111
After reading The Legend of Arturo King I am left speechless.
Arturo King, the legendary ladies man, the chivalrous lover and lead singer of The Nights. We are immediately thrown into Arturo’s world and want to be one of his many conquests. We see the passion he has for his music, but he feels like he is missing something.
This is where Gunie DeGrance comes in. The only daughter of the famous Leo Degrance, Guinie is told from a young age to stay away from the rock stars. That would be easy if a certain sexy lead singer wasn’t thrown in her path.
The relationship between Arturo and Gunie starts out slow but when they put the pedal to the metal, hold on tight because it is sure to be a fun ride. I love the way that LB draws out the encounters between Arturo and Guinie. It isn’t a wham bam kind of thing. We see why Arturo truly deserves the name The Chivalrous Lover. The transformation that Guinie undergoes is really beautiful. Arturo brings out a side of her that was hidden away for all these years. I feel that this story is as much a story of Guinie’s metamorphosis as it is Arturo’s .
Like many couples they have their ups and downs, but when you are with a rock star they are a little more extreme; a love child, long lists of conquests and paparazzi at every turn. Bravo to LB for making this a new kind of Rocker series. I usually stay away from rock star stories because I feel they are all the same; sex , drugs and rock’n’roll. LB delves deeper into the life of a rock star and shows their softer side. A softer side that may lead to Arturo’s downfall.
The only thing I will say about the ending is, well played LB, well played. She took us on this journey and put the breaks on when we least expect it. She left us wanting more and almost scratching our heads to wonder, what happened to our boy.
Although this story is based loosely on King Arthur, this is no way a sexy retelling of the classic tale. LB puts her own spin on it and does a fantastic job. This is a romantic love story that is made to stand the tests of time. The mixture of passion, love, joy heartache and suspense has left me wanting more, much more, from LB Dunbar and the rest of the boys in The Nights.

Camelot 21st century!
By Gloria Herrera
Rating: Somewhere between 3.75 and 4.00 Stars

I am torn! I am a fan of anything dealing with Camelot, King Arthur and Guinevere. You don't even have to ask how many times I have either watched the movie Camelot, or gone to the theatre to actually see the play, or how many books I have read about the legend. "For once there was a spot..."

Having said that, I was really excited about this unique idea for a modern romance book about the legend. I love this author's previous books. So here is the conundrum... I love and not love the book at once. Notice I do not use the word hate. I am using not love. I really did not go for the "unique" cute names in the book. We all know the storyline... so do we really need to call a character Mure Linn to realize he stands for Merlin? Lans Lotte for Lancelot? I don't want to be petty, but I found this very distracting from the story.

NOW WHAT I LOVED! I loved how Guinevere is portrayed - very independent and fighting to be her own person. I loved that Lans is so quiet and moody. I love that Arturo is a little crazy, temperamental and impulsive. I love that Pert is lost somewhere in his search for that elusive girl he saw by the lake.

The courtship of Guinevere is to die for. Arturo is very level headed as he slowly seduces her. He builds a relationship with her, putting aside his normal MO of hit and run. He realizes how unique she is and is willing to invest his time bringing her along from virgin to woman; shaping her as his own.

Finally, people we have a humdinger of a cliffhanger here. I hope and pray we do not have to wait months to get the next book. I will be checking periodically to see when the next book comes out. I hope our author takes pity on us readers and gifts us the next installment SOON!

Loved, Loved, Loved it! Can't wait for the next book!!
By Stephanie
Oh my! I loved this book! It's been awhile since I've read a book with a big cliffhanger that left me saying, OMG, how long do I have to wait for the next book? This book had me on the edge of my seat with all of the twists and turns and I found myself holding my breath as I read the final pages! WOW!

This is a modern day re-telling of the tale of King Arthur. I loved Arturo and Guinevere right from the beginning. Arturo is a sexy, confident rocker who always gets what he wants, yet feels empty, even though he has a different woman in his bed every night. They met when they were younger, but when they see each other several years later at the Round Table, their mutual interest in each other is ignited. Her father is the owner of the Round Table and the man that gave the Nights their big start. She is shy, innocent, and beautiful.

Once they eventually meet, their relationship starts to flourish.

"You aren't in the way, Guinie," I said softly stroking my thumb up and down her neck. "You might just be the way," I muttered quietly.

"Guinevere," I said on a sigh, forcing her to look up at me. "You are the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. You make me smile and laugh and write songs. You inspire me with your desire to be yourself and you motivate me to a better man. You make me feel special, and not just because I'm a member of a band. I feel...I feel cherished. That's what you do for me."

And this book is filled with twists and turns and my emotions were scattered all over the place.

When our phone call ended, I wanted to go to him immediately. I suddenly had a bad feeling about the night to come, and that gut feeling I should have listened to because that night changed everything. .

OMG, I cannot wait for the next book in this series. It cannot come soon enough. I highly recommend this well-written, sexy fairy tale of a romance. Ms. Dunbar did a wonderful job with this re-telling and really made it her own story. All I have to say is when is the next book coming????

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
