“This was a favorite book for me. I grew up in a small town, & it was like going home. Nosy neighbors, small town sheriff, corruption & lots of humor. A real page turner !! I highly recommend this book. Loved it !!” Annette Simmons
“A mature, beautifully written novel, with a wonderfully diverse cast of characters that are real and not the standard southern stereotypes. The romance between the couple in their 50's is clean, sensual and believable without being overtly sexual. The conclusion left me satisfied yet wishing for more. Please don't miss a truly fascinating story.” -- Ebony Diva 3

Dixie Burns has done it again with “What If It’s True?”. Fans of her first novel, “Spit of A Minute”, will recognize the spot-on dialects, a strong sense of place, and colorful characters that make Mrs. Burns a budding master of Southern fiction. Clarissa Clooney, the mysterious divorcee from out-of-town, and Trig Foley, the local police chief, are imperfect heroes drawn together by their desire to help a group of small town girls before it’s too late. Equal parts love story and page-turning thriller, this Southern novel has more twists and turns than a backcountry road. But the truth is, Cedar Hill’s tale of romantic suspense, perversion, and corruption could take place in any small town.

From the Author
Cedar Hill is a good town, a solid town. Neat and efficient in all its circumstances and the citizens go along to get along. "Nothing" happens over and over. That is until Clarissa Clooney moves to town. A recent, fifty-something divorcee, she is looking to start all over where nobody knows her name. She suffers the fate of all newcomers in a small Southern town where tongues wag, but few heads think.
Trigger Ray Foley, born in Cedar Hill, is the city's Chief of Police. He and most of Cedar Hill's residents live in a comfortable rut. The explosive growth of a new church, lead by a flamboyant minister begins to ruffle the surfaces of tranquility. Suspicion and sordid rumors appear to move in with Ms. Clooney causing Chief Foley and Clarissa to do a little more than cross paths.
The victims do not act like victims. They are not likable or trustworthy. And what do we do with an unlikable victim? What do we do with an outlandish rumor? Like sand in our shoes, we ignore it. Until, the grit in our soles whispers, "What if it's true?"

About the Author
Dixie Burns is a fifth generation native Nashvillian. "What If It's True?" is her second novel. Her first, "Spit of a Minute" has exceeded expectations and continues to place in the Top 100 Amazon Saga category."The TV was talking behind my back as a wiped down the kitchen counters. They were telling of the most horrific abuse of small boys. My skin crawled listening to the story unfold and I wondered how anybody could have known about these monsters and not done something. I had to ask myself if I'd heard rumors like these would I have taken any notice. Then I remembered. I had. What If It's True? came out of those rumors."

A stellar novel filled with unique character and a mystery that will intrigue you until the very last page
By E.A. Gray
As a lover of mysteries and suspense I was referred to this book by a work associate who said they were impressed by it. After digesting the material over a long and comfortable weekend, I must say that I can’t agree more. From the vibrant descriptions and progressive story line all the way to the unique and three dimensional characters, this novel was a stellar read. So many novels set in southern locations seem to be saturated with caricatured people and a stilted dialog that aches with falseness; not so here. The characters exposition rings true as if you’re hearing it straight from someone’s mouth, making suspension of disbelief during the entire read something so easy that you just happily ease right into the novel.

From Trigger to Clarissa, I thoroughly enjoyed the people that populated the small town. Ms. Sally was fun to read and the murder mystery itself was palpable, building to a crescendo that thoroughly satisfies. Also, the writing was succinct and never veered off onto unnecessary descriptions or into areas that took away from the primary story. All said, this is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. I recently discovered Ms. Burns has written another novel called Spit of a Minute. Now that I’ve finished this one, I can’t wait to read her other one this after my work week is over. Here’s to another fun weekend.

Loved the small town suspense
By TFLReader
I love a good suspense novel. The premise of building a story around small town gossip is a great one and author Dixie Burns applies her talent well with "What If It's True?". The story of Clarissa, who moves to small town Cedar Hill after a divorce to "start over". Of course, being a small town, people talk. Rumors start to fly as a new church and its pastor, Pastor Scarvone, becomes quite popular. Clarissa and the town's police chief become involved in more than just the controversy in this very intriguing suspense. I loved every minute of this story - the mystery, the characters, the dialogue and especially the small town setting. Very well written and engaging.

A really, really good read!
By Baker-Wright
I kept putting off the reading of this book so my expectations were very low. The synopsis of a small, southern town with s good ole boy sheriff was a turn off but I was down to two books and didn't want to do a search for another book. So I began this book and I am so very glad I did!

The plot was good and believable. Character development was the best I had encountered for a long time. And Dixie Burns is right up there as one of the best. I called a friend of mine who is an avid reader and recommended she get the book on her kindle. I hardly ever recommend a book to her because she is very particular and I don't want to offend her. She called me the next day - she no only bought the book , she had read it straight through!

I highly recommend this book - good plot, good writing, good character development, and an ending that gives the reader a great deal of reward - the author doesn't leave loose ends!
