About the Author
Pauline Baird Jones had a tough time with reality from the get-go. After "schooling" from four, yes FOUR brothers, she knew that some people needed love and others needed shooting. Pauline figured she could do both. Romantic suspense was the logical starting point, but there were more worlds to explore, more rules to break and minds to bend. She grabbed her pocket watch and time travel device and dove through the wormhole into the world of science fiction and even some Steampunk.
Now she wanders among the genres, trying a little of this and a lot of that, rampaging through her characters' lives like Godzilla because she does love her peril (when it's not happening to her). Never fear, she gives her characters happy endings. Well, the good characters. The bad ones get justice.

This is just 25% of the book...

Witty, well-written, with a quirky ' pair of protagonists, this was well on its way to being a five-star read... when it just stopped. At which point the reader is confronted with the price tag: you can pay $5.99 and get the whole rest of the book (and while still cheaper than a paperback, that's high enough to give you a certain amount of sticker shock if you're used to Amazon's inexpensive ebooks), or you can pay $3.99-- for just the next installment (and then another four bucks, and then yet another to finish it). Jones is a fun writer, but this book should have been a bit more clear in stating that "Steamrolled: Part One (Project Enterprise)" wasn't the title of the novel, nor is 'Steamrolled' the first part of something called Project Enterprise. Only on going to the Amazon Author's page is this made clear, the Project Enterprise is the series of novels, and Steamrolled with its many parts but a single novel within it.
Such foreknowledge might well have resulted in four or five stars, but as it is, I felt I was the target of bait-and-switch.

Steamrolled Right Into Your Heart!

Really cute streamline adventure part one. Multiple lines of plot with competing teams of searchers solving seemingly different mysteries involving a machine invented in the 1890's. Spanning time periods and strewn across galaxies, great fun.
