POWERFUL AND COMPELLING!!!

Wow! This is going to be such an awesome series! Broussard has dazzled us once again with her incredible talent and amazing imagination in her latest serial, Taken: The Werewolf's Concubine. Yes, I said serial which means multiple installments and cliffhangers but I just love a great spell binding chronicle with a suspenseful, edge of your seat ending and this one definitely fits the bill! The story is original, powerful, compelling, dark, captivating, riveting and exciting. The dialog is smart and well written. The characters are fascinating, imaginative and intriguing. I quickly became totally immersed in the fantasy of the story, the characters and the planet, Scorched. Handsome Rolf Ragnulf is no stranger to Earth nor humanity. Afterall, he once was a human from earth but no more, now he lives on the planet Scorched. Hundreds of years ago, he and his people were Vikings from Greenland but all his people, every man, woman and child, had either been captured or killed and taken to the planet Scorched, to be transformed to werewolves to repopulate their dying race. But he and his people were not purebreds and were still treated as less than equals. He has fought his way up the ranks to his current position and can not afford to fail in his latest mission. And that mission is to travel to Earth, procure ten human females for concubines and return them to Scorched to be used as thralls and bred. Their race is slowly becoming extinct and needed fertile females to reproduce and bear young. Rolf detests the very idea of enslaving anyone since that's what happened to him but he has no choice. He cannot reveal his true plans just yet. But one of the females has escaped and he's determined to recapture her. He tracks her back to her home where he finds her with her dying Grandmother and witnesses the young woman's loss. He has only heard her voice and seen her from the back yet he is strangely moved by this young woman. But when she turns and he sees her face, he is struck by her beauty - her long blonde hair, electric blue eyes and flawless creamy skin - such a gorgeous creature, this Briony Williams. Rolf knows that he can not afford to be distracted by a female and has no intention of taking a mate. But his well made plans never included the attraction he felt for the small human female and she seems to haunt his mind day and night. Briony Williams is no stranger to despair and hardship but after awakening on another planet, she quickly realizes that there is no hope for escape although that doesn't mean she will submit willingly. But after being kidnapped, drugged, humiliated, beaten and abused, Briony soon realizes that her only means of escape is death - hers. Can Rolf continue to deny his attraction to the beautiful Breony? Will Breony be able to escape her fate? Oh my! Handsome werewolf-check! Beautiful human heroine-check! Heinous villains-check! Suspense, hardship and angst-check! I can hardly wait for Part Two. This is quite simply an all you can eat buffet of fantasy, science fiction and paranormal romance. I love it! Fabulous entertainment and a fantastic read!

werewolf vikings from another planet kidnap women for concubines

This is the sort of serial where each book is interesting but does not have a stand alone plot and ends in a cliffhanger. This is a future paranormal, and this piece is all world building with no erotica, no sex, and barest hints of romance to come. The setting is creative and interesting. The length is a bit short for $0.99 as this 70 page book ends at 85%. The writing quality and editing are good.
Plot of this piece is spunky lady fights back in a seemingly hopeless situation, with a surprisingly upbeat mood for all the occasionally nasty setting element. Some preaching about killing animals for meat is immoral. Mild "we are destroying the world" preaching also.

great beginning to a new adventure!

I was given a free copy of this story for a honest review. I have to say What a great start to what looks like a wonderful story. I loved Taken: the vampire concubine so when I saw that this new story was based on a different world i was a little disappointed. Wow! I was amazed! The beginning of the story hooked me from the start. I really like the heroine Briony. She is strong but not so strong that she seems unrealistic , and she is smart and a little bit sassy. Though when described she seems small, fragile and young, there is a maturity to her that helps me immerse myself in the story. Welcome to Scorched! The planet, what we get to see of it so far is fascinating . To the heroine the place and people seem primitive. and yet you can see a city out in the distance. what a way to catch a reader! Get you immersed in the middle of a planet that is hot and dirty, the people are cruel and filthy and you are half starved already yet fighting for survival and yet off in the distance are the mysterious shapes of more advanced buildings! So The story already has you pulled in , you have a believable, smart heroine, a storyline told in a manner that makes you eagerly turning the pages! You have a mysterious planet all described by the author in a way that is like a beautiful woman slowly, seductivly taking her clothes off and revealing her secrets one at a time. And then the Hero walks in! Yes he is hot, yes he is sexy, smart and very alpha, But he isn't overbearing. He is secretly kind and is deeply wounded by the plight of his people. many reviews will resummerize the plot. I just want to say buy this story! I hope the rest of the story is as good as the beginning . It has been a long time since I couldn't wait for the next page in the story! I like this author. She so far never writes the expected just because it is easier. I will continue to look forward to her stories and continue to buy them.
