Still Enjoyable...But

I'm still enjoying this series, but I have to say that some of the ongoing issues are beginning to wear thin. When it comes to the mechanics of writing, the author continues to use Howard's, Jordan's, & Deane's (possessive), instead of Howards, Deanes, and Jordans (plural) when referring to groups of family members. This may seem like nit-picking, but these are used frequently (along with Feyk's), and it knocks me out of the story every time. Regarding the storyline, for adults who have dealt with the supernatural before & have even had their parents disappear, and assumed dead (at first), they seem way too naive, trusting, & confused. That didn't even bother me in the first couple of books, but this is Book FIVE. I'm also a bit confused about why their parents originally started trying to find this "power source" - they're supposed to guard it, but were never told the location. There's probably a reason for that - makes sense that if no one knows the exact location, it will be easier to protect, as the knowledge can't then be compromised. So, why did they go looking for it? The vampire seems ubiquitous - he's supposed to be there for protection & guidance, but he has yet to actually protect them from anything, and the effectiveness of his research skill appears to be practically nil, so far. The only true impact he's had in the story is as someone for Melinda to (randomly) pine over. If his only purpose is as a second love interest for Melinda, that would disappoint me. All in all, I'm still intrigued with the overall story arc and want to find out what happens, but I hope the characters do a lot of growing up in the next couple of books, even the ancient vampire, or I will lose interest. My actual rating for this is 3.5 stars.

What could the Deans be up to now?

Yet again a good storyline and the Howard family and William the vampire are very entertaining this series would be a great weekend read as a whole it keeps you engaged and coming back to see what's going to happen next. Now to the problem of it all the grammar and the typos really need to be corrected it distracts from the story at times because your having to decipher what is being said before you can move on in the story and I'm not one to normally include things like this and base my opinion on the storyline and characters themselves because every book has typos you just can't get them all but these are more than the normal for me and it takes away from a really great read and that is why I'm including it in my review. I was gifted this book for my opinion and I'll continue on as I'm loving the series itself I just hope that the editor of these books is more cautious in the future so it's back to the way it should be and not taking away from a great read.

Story line is great - major cliff hangers in each and every book

I love the story line. It keeps me interested. Great action and details. However, Melissa is NOT a strong character. Too much whining and crying and "Its all my fault" from her. She needs to grow a pair. The other thing is, this book never ends. I'm just finished book 9 and its another cliff hanger, as each book is. Lets get to the point already or at least finish a story. I'm giving it 5 stars because it is a wonderful story line...Melissa only gets 3 points. The Howards, as a whole, get 4 points.
