OK, it’s not often a story makes me cry, but this one does. Will is the sheriff in a small town in the South named Menton. Mabel is an author who has rented a house to write her next book. Menton has a few old-fashioned customs. The biggest one we must mention is that every woman must have some male who is responsible for her. So, Will, who knows Mabel from college fights to be the man responsible for her. Will calls her Maebelle and frequently tells her to “Mind me, Mae!” Through all this Mae and Will fall in love. The way he cares for did make me cry a few times. Also, I need to let you know that the discipline in this story is pretty severe. Deserved, but severe. I give this story 5 stars! Go out and buy it!

I didn't like it. First off, I understand that this is a "domestic discipline" theme, and that's ok. What I didn't like was that it was just an excuse for discipline scenes that were getting progressively worse. Going from a spanking to cutting your own switches 5 at a time because they were being broken on you and doing it over a period of 3 or more sessions and worrying about whether or not your skin would scar is not "loving discipline". The sheriff came off more as a controlling jerk rather than a loving partner by wanting her to chart her every movement 24/7. The whole ex-boyfriend thing was pretty anticlimactic as well.

I perhaps some of the issues people had with this book were that DD isn't a one size fits all. Some people enjoy a "sharper" discipline scenario while others prefer a more gentle intimate outlook.
I rated this based on the writing (which I thought was very well done), the story line (I am a sucker for southern gentlemen, cops, and sassy girls :)), and just the overall feel of the book. Very well done!
I see what people are saying about the discipline being overly harsh in parts, but I never got the vibe from him that he was being sadistic or mean. He just really cared about her and she wasn't broken over it. A very sweet story.
My only "issue" was when he is prepping her for a potential big spanking by trying to toughen her butt by spanking her lots in 24 hours... not very realistic. :)
